im sorry i can't get over the fact that the alien monsters can only find you if you're afraid of them?

that's even dumber than the signs aliens, or even killer pollen. what were the aliens going to do if humanity started using unmanned vehicles to fight them? or androids? or Buddhist monks? or soldiers on Prozac? or soldiers that have had lobotomies? or Space Marines? (they do not feel fear for they are fear incarnate)

Actually i kind of like the androids idea: In a world where monsters hunt us using our own emotions, man kind's last hope if a force of android guardians. But what will happen when one of those androids learns to love?

you could get that girl from twilight to play the android since she'll never have show any emotions anyway. throw in a Data style longing to be human sub plot, some outsider observations on the fallen state of humanity, emo meta commentary on how no one understands her and lots of fighting scenes and bam good movie.
This actually sounds pretty good so far, I really don't like/get sick of all the "military robots are EVIIILLLLL!!!" crap we get in most movies. Why can't we get a movie where the super death machines are actually the heros who have to defeat some great danger, get betrayed by paranoid leaders afraid of their power, and end up saving the day and earning their place anyway after defeating the bad guy?

To be OT: Yeah probably not going to see this, some people are already calling it one of the worst movies ever made.

My powers of deduction are obviously improving because I've managed to infer from the subtle hints that Bob disliked this movie...

Seriously though, I had no idea Shyamalan was involved either. That seems to have been downplayed in all the advertising. I had contemplated going to see this because I like Will Smith but I'm glad Bob has saved me the time and money.

That said, After Earth is a good movie. It's MUCH better than Bob gives it credit for. This movie to me falls into the same bin as Jack Reacher... I think people will pass on it, downplay it's quality, and ultimately ignore it in lieu of greater box office big budget offerings.
You mean that they were both written to support Scientology? Cause this turd was pure L. Ron Hubbard. And Big Budget offerings? Wasn't this a $200 million movie?

I don't agree with everything Bob says. I certainly don't agree with all ofr his reviews (Sorry Bob but Suckerpunch was vile on every level imaginable), but for certain types of movies I do find that his tastes more or less match up with mine.

Did you just describe the plot of Pacific Rim?

You can make a good movie about anything. even internet Meme. WIll they?

I used to be "That guy" that liked M Night Shyamalan (had to ctrl+v the name) movies. but The Smiths..... no, just no. Will is quite ok when he plays the role that he can play - a comedic action guy. but his son, so far i wish the movies he was in would be the ones burried in ET site instead......

So a Family project, lets be fair this is just a way to get his son to act.. is pretty bad in part due to calling in the help of M. Night

Who did expect that, M Night might not be Uwe Boll but he certainly has his own way of awful to offer. Sadly worrying not always the "So bad its good"

thanks for warning me bob.. I won't expect something hilarious bad.

So.....I was....wrong...there's no twist? There's no "this was Earth in the past" ending?

That...that is depressing.

That's exactly what I expected the twist to be XD
OT: Man, that's sad. I mean, if only there was a good series about future post-apocalyptic Earth where a cool guy that fights aliens crash lands...

Oh wait, there already is :D
Well, I'll just drop this here. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0404756/

In this one, your futuristic spaceman is a chiropractor and Bruce Campbell. It is a SciFi original and it is terrible. But, it has Bruce Campbell in it. Oh, and Gabrielle from Xena. It's like a little Xena reunion. Again...terrible. The cover says "The Highest Rated SciFi Pictures Original of All-Time!" Wow. That is not something to brag about. Still...Bruce Campbell.

Will Smith was going to play Django?! Heh Jamie Foxx is more of a wild-west-macho than him (I DO like Smith though), I'm happy HE got the character...
Anyway, I was looking forward to this movie, I really like the movies from Will Smith AND the ones with his son (at least the few ones I saw), but I had no idea it was directed by Shyamalan, I really don't like his movies (other than Unbreakable, no I did NOT enjoy Sixth Sense), AT ALL. But I'm open minded to movies, and I usually enjoy movies that Movie Bob hate (like Transformers hahahaha) and hate stuff he loves (like G.I. Joe), so I'll give it a try anyway.

... I did enjoy The Tree of Life though, so did MovieBob, and no one else I know even got to the end of that movie, a pity...

so what was that with the "Battlefield Earth" reference?

also, this hole Scientology thing, can someone brake that down for me? I'm German so I don't get much info about what's going on over on your side of the lake.

thx anyway Bob. And keep up the good-fight!

I hate it when awesome premises like this (I honestly think that the whole idea behind After Earth, not including the whole Will Smith is this awesome paradigm of awesome) are squandered are mediocre stories and characters. :/
