Blargh, even after hearing about how it's a wonderful film that I really should see, I just can't muster any enthusiasm about it. It's like there's a switch in my brain controlling enthusiasm that the initial teaser trailer flipped to the off position.

After careful analysis, I've concluded that the reason I can't get behind this film is that I appear to be incapable of taking the blue cat people seriously and think they look ridiculous. I hate that this is a deal-breaker, but that's apparently how I'm wired.

Although your review gives the movie praise I still hesitate to see this movie because the overall plot seems so generic and uninteresting.

Good review though, it definitely gave me second thoughts about judging the movie by its overdone advertising campaign and horribly mediocre video game release.
Did you miss the part where he said that the plot wasn't really the point? It was pretty much everything between "stop the dances with smurfs gags" and "don't spend months debating whether you'd shag a Na'Vi".

I don't want to see this movie, there is going to be so many different scenes where I'll have to call bullshit.

I know these movies by trailer now and I hate that.
You'll have to call bullshit? What do you mean you know them by trailer?

"The plot was kept so basic to not distract us from all this immersion"?????!!!!????

I laughed my ass off when I saw Avatar's trailer. If there's one thing I can't stand about movies, it's clichés. What does Avatar have that hasn't been done a billion times before? Kinda reminds me of Gears of War: compensating poor story with amazing visuals. If I don't care about the characters or their motivations, I can't give less of a shit about the rest of the whole movie.

Please, somebody tell me that Avatar has some unique twist, turn, moment, character, new idea or ANYTHING that would make me want to watch massive battle scenes again. What I've seen thus far doesn't give away any of the previously mentioned.

And before you all start ripping my post to pieces: my opinion is based entirely on what I've seen and heard about the movie, I haven't seen it.

Great review, Bob.
BTW, are you going to make a look-back at 2009 in movies episode or do you find that pointless?
Also, Deviantart creeps me out. I've seen some sick stuff on the net that started from there.

I generally agree with Movie Bob, but this is bs. This movie is just visual masturbation, I would prefer to spend my money on a flm that actually has depth, and can immerse me.

It should have been pointed out that this movie is designed to appeal to people with a limited mental capacity.

I don't really agree with ALL of your opinions, Moviebob, but you always say exactly what I want to hear in your reviews. You're definitely my favorite film critic (and the only one I follow).

Thank you Bob, for keeping the review fresh and on topic. You answered the true question of the film: Is it worth 10 bucks?

"aping something that is funny, dose not make you funny"

I was all set to dismiss this movie as an overwrought 3D tech fest for kids. I generally don't like movies that feature prominently in happy meals. However I usually respect Movie Bob's opinions, so I may give this one a chance.

Hmm, while I think I mentioned once to my friends about Dances with Wolves when we were discussing the whole "Going Native" aspect of Avatar, my primary observation of the movie is that it was, infact, more like Ferngully. Yes, Ferngully, with Robin Williams as a insane bat, Christian Slater as a macho faery(?), and Tim Curry as a cloud of noxious pollutants.

Well, thats settled then; I'll have to go off and see it soon.

As for deviantart and the 'would you do her' discussion....yeah, I'm just going to have to go with the 'odd people on the internet' line.

I will see this but Sherlock Holmes is coming out in a week and well Robert Downey Jr. one of my favorite actors and one of the few who's name I can remember.

And in response to the end honestly I might depending on the situation I just might bob.
