Disney's been on a roll lately. Hope they can keep it up.
Thinking about StarWars and the rest of the Marvel Cinemtatic universe are we?
But yeah, certainly hope they can keep the good work up myself :D
Well, the last three Disney animated pictures have been:

Wreck-It Ralph
Frozen
Big Hero 6

I'd say that's quite a roll.
Not to mention Princess and the Frog (which started this new age) and Tangled.
Why does everyone forget about Bolt? Everyone always forgets about Bolt.
Its not that people forget about Bolt necessarily. Its just not seen as the catalyst. It just kind of came and went and I like it sure but everybody started paying attention again only after Princess and the Frog and Tangled.

I guess, I just find the whole thing weird because, as I recall, Bolt was the first of their newer wave of movies. The next year Princess and the Frog came out which continued the trend of excellence.

I went and saw it tonight, it was a great movie, not fantastic. My favorite thing is the art design, the semi futuristic tokyo is an interesting idea.

I only had two problems with the ending.

1. It irked me that the Big business man got to go free in the end after endangering lives, even a slight "Investigations into worker endangerment by big business man continues" in the ending news crawl could have erased that problem.

2. This is the big one. The death of Baymax in the end was completely pointless and only existed to be a sad ending and a call back to "I'm satisfied with my care", if you kill a character and then immediately bring him back nothin changes and it just feels like a cheap ploy
2: Really? I moreso saw it, instead of being about Baymax's death, as being about Hiro. Showing that Hiro was able to let go and grieve without being self destructive. Err... Hrmm... Not quite that but close to it. Like... It wasn't just the sad thing of Baymax dying, because Baymax could be rebuilt, it was more about Hiro learning that sometimes you lose loved ones, and life goes on, and you still have friends, and things will be allright, and it's okay to grieve, stuff like that. That he was able to let go of Baymax at the end, to do so voluntarily, that what's Baymax's "death" was about.

Yeah saw it Saturday and really the only complaint you can throw at it is that you really just end up wanting more. When your first reaction to a movie is to go home and immidately google "Big Hero 6 sequel" you know the movie was really damn good, god I hope we get some shorts or maybe even a TV series somewhere down the line in addition to the eventual follow up movies.

I watched it tonight.
The first half is wonderful, but the second half really drags.
I think I figured out the problem: Hiro is the only interesting/likable character. The rest are just one-dimensional annoyances, but they're not nearly as present for the first half.

Did anyone else see a big, red Toothless being ridden by a Hiccup in an electronic suit?

While I technically may be an adult, I still have to see this, hopefully I'll get the chance to see this film either this weekend or the next. I also should look into the comics, which the movie is only *very* loosely based on, but it's still peaked my interest. So there's that.

I, for one, welcome our new Nintendo overlords.

What always worries me about this sort of flick is that when you see a sequel, they will feel the need to break up the characters and "get the band back together." That doesn't automatically make a movie bad (I like Ghostbusters 2, as an example), but it does eat into character development time, often to retread conflicts or issues from the first that don't need to be done or come off as stupid.

I'm probably getting ahead of myself, talking about a sequel when I haven't seen the movie, but when people start talking about sequels and more character time, it's my first thought.

Of course, this is based on a Marvel property, and Marvel characters hardly ever butt heads....

"My diagnosis"? *raises finger* "Puberty"

I died and had to rewind the video :')
It's obvious, you know where it's going, and it's still funny as hell.

You saw the same movie as him right because none of those characters were annoying in the slightest when I went and saw it.

Went to see this movie earlier today. Overheard some kids complaining that the movie was much too short. I laughed at that.

It's always nice to hear analysis of why something is good and the bits where it stumbles, but really, I was pretty much sold by the tagline "Disney's Animated Avengers".

How is it that some people outgrow this stuff, anyway? I still squee and clap my hands at fun kid movies, 15+ years after my purported childhood!
My diagnosis? Puberty!

For most kids, myself included, when you reach your teenage years, you don't want to be seen as "childish" by your peers, so you'll dump all that kid stuff like a brick to be cool. "Pokemon, Disney? Ptsh that stuffs for kids!"

But then when you're an adult? Hey, this stuff is really fun, screw it, I'm off to unashemedly go see Frozen at the cinema, shed a tear at the Lego Movie, play Pokeymans in public, chill out watching Adventure Time and whatever else takes my fancy.

OT: This is actually the first I've heard of this movie, but it looks gorgeous and seeing Baymax just makes me feel happy, I love the way they've animated him. Especially when it's petting the hairy baby ^^. I worry that when it does evenutally come out here though, it's going to be a Finnish dub as opposed to subbed. Which is understandable, but I don't want to wait til the DVD comes out.

The film seems fun, but I'd disagree that what children want is longer stories. Most kids are pretty dumb and get squirmy at around the one hour mark, in my experience, so it seems that putting more good, smart stuff into around 80-90 minutes is the way to go. Young adults, on the other hand, or teens, really ought to be given longer, more challenging narratives. The drivel they're being fed these days is rot.

I varies, sometimes from person to person, and sometimes with ages. As a kid, here had been movies where I wanted to get to the action already, and movies where I dreaded the inevitable end.

Finally saw this movie last night and I totally agree with Bob's review. My only criticism is that you don't get to spend as much time with Wasabi, Honey-Lemon, et al, as you would like. They are totally believable and interesting in their own right and don't just seem like "hangers on".

Also, Baymax is just adorable and impossible not to love (and I say that as a 38 year old man).
