I'm Australian, but I haven't seen Tomorrow when the War Began yet, so I can't say how good it is. I'm also probably the only person my age in the country who didn't read the book in school. To be honest, I wasn't that interested in going to see it, but I think I will if for no other reason tha to support the floundering Australian film industry (there's a reason the only Australian films anyone remembers are around fifteen years old or more...).
I'll solve that problem for you. Tomorrow when the war began, as far as the book goes, is ass.

Honestly, i don't know if Bob really has seen that movie. I was unfortunate enough to be one of the first people to see it in my country and i have NEVER seen a movie as bad as buried. And i have seen A LOT of bad movies. Half the people in the cinema walked out of the movie because it sucked so bad and many people booed at the screen. Everybody was pissed.

Why is buried shit? Because you see nothing but a guy that is a complete failure as an actor doing nothing but calling random people, always displaying an enourmous ammount of stupidity. The story is inexistant and the viewer gets tortured by 10 minutes long passages of black screen and heavy breathing. Its like watching porn with you monitor switched off. Boring as hell. There wasn't more than 5 minutes when i could actually enjoy the movie. The rest was a painfull waiting for it to fucking finally end! I could've done so much better stuff in all that time..

Buried is probably the worst movie in theaters we got punished with in the last 50 years. Download that crap and see what i mean. But dont waste time or money on that piece of crap. You will regret it.

I really feel like Movie Bob received some money for that ridiculous "critic". He repeats the exact same lines as the buried-marketing people want us to believe. "This movie has everything! Puzzle solving, drama, romance, horror, great actors and story". And that he really used the word awesome to describe buried is like using the word "awesome" to describe cancer. It's not even funny anymore.

I figured as much. If it's required reading for school it can't be that good (except when I had to read The Hobbit, which is awesome).

To Moviebob,
Glad to see someone else is happy Zack Snyder is doing the next Superman. Most of the fans I know have been pissing and moaning and taking the chance to bash Watchmen and 300. Frankly, I really love some of Snyder's films and he's near the top of my list for directors should a sans-Lucas Star Wars film ever be made. At the very least the lightsaber fights would be well-directed and suitably epic, not a bunch of guys hopping around waving glow-in-the-dark batons shot in the most boring way possible.

moviebob knowing you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes, what are your views on the BBC tv series Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and what do you think of Steven Fry being cast as Mycroft in Sherlock Holmes 2. Yes, I know this has nothing to do with Buried but this is the quickest way to get you to respond.

Anyone else think that director Zack Snyder is a complete tool, totally f'd up watchmen, and needs to stop masturbating to a slow-mo camera so that 30 second action scenes don't come across as drawn out and boring? To be honest i'm not excited at all that he's in the loop for whatever superman project they have coming out. The guys behind dark knight though... couldn't be happier.

Re: Tommorrow when the war began.

It's an ok movie but as always the books were better and by better I mean the books are AMAZING. The movie's worth seeing But it's not amazing. It suffers from trying too hard in many scenes. Mainly in the funny and full blockbuster actions scenes. Some of it works but when it doesn't it really doesn't. Some of the acting is good but a lot of the actors are from bad Australian TV shows (Home and Away) and their performances are less than stellar. But It's a great concept and a lot of what made the books so good carries over. I don't think you need to Aussie to enjoy this... We'll see.

But ya know what? Me and my country would be honoured if you'd review it for us Movie Bob!!

Dude, we would be honored if bob would review a GOOD australian movie. Not this peace o shit. Anyone without nostalgia and reference points from the books is gonna be left behind a little because the plot is pretty iffy on details. It was pretty close to a Michael Bay flick with worse actors and smaller explosions with a love story kinda tacked in there.

Bob, disregard this movie.

Hey MovieBob have been a fan for a couple of months now and really appreciate the reviews and would like to thank you for all the work you and the escapist put in to providing us with amazing and free entertainment.

I am actually quite surprised you suggested Buried as I had written it off a while back when they were advertising it in my area. However, I might actually make an attempt to go and see it now.

Regarding Tomorrow When the War Began, if you are a fan of the book you will certainly appreciate the movie, and if you haven't read the book the story isn't overall too bad. However, not to criticize this countries acting skills, but the acting in the movie is a bit sub-par. If you can manage to get a hold of a dvd copy after its release and have a free weekend, it will be worthwhile to take the moment and see the movie.

I just rewatched Dark City, do a review on that instead, it's pretty much a Aussie movie, shot down here, and most of the bit players are Aussie actors, and really its a great god damn movie.

*Spoiler Alert*(if anyone cares about spoilers)
Now that I look back, I actually hated that scene. When Robyn (religeous girl) killed some soldiers, it really was a big fail. The entire movie (and pretty much all the way through the books also) she was portrayed as totally humane, never would or wanted to hurt anyone. Then all of a sudden she whips out a fucking machine gun and shoots down a GROUP of soldiers. It didn't make sense, can she work that massive gun? Can she aim it at that distance? It was just so inconsistent. Drove me nuts.

Poor Wonder Woman.

And Smallville was alright...until it just went batshit.
Yeah, surprisingly I'm still hanging with it. Most things are predictable now and it's not nearly as exciting, but after hanging with it when it went "batshit" I figured I might as well see it through. If it lasted this long (it's on it's last season, or so they say) someone out there has to like it right? I just put it in the "passable" slot...
