How about steven Spielberg LOVING the halo movie idea you think that guy doesn't know a good movie when he sees one?
Very bad example. Take of the rose-tinted specs and look back at his movies. They have all been a little crap.

On-Topic: This movie looks cool, and true, Moviebob was a little biased towards the new Star Trek film. There was nothing wrong with it.

I would think that even something as bland as Halo could be made into something really cool. Though now that I think about it, Halo is a rather shallow universe. Yeah it's big but it's not really wide, get me?

In any case, I was hooked from the beginning and was gonna see it anyway.

Also, this review was for Humans only. Non-humans attempting to watch this review will be killed.

I have been interested in seeing this movie since I first saw the teaser trailer, but now I HAVE to see it. It looks great, and it has got the Official MovieBob seal of approval.

While I respect that you don't like Halo, please respect that many people do. I'll be the first to admit it's not perfect or the writing as good as shakespeare, but it's still a fun game with a good story if you pay attention and actually give it a chance.

As for District 9, no I'm not going to go see it. I don't care if you loved it or hated it. I have long ago given up on hollywood and disgusted with theater prices. If it's a great movie now it'll still be a great movie whebn it comes out on DVD for me to rent. And if it really is that good then I'll buy it for myself. But not before.

i went and saw the midnight premiere. it was epic. not the wussy prick "i jumped then stuck a guy in the head with a plasma grenade in halo" epic, i mean fuckin' "Webster defines epic as" epic.

Seriously, your mic sounds like a fucking 8 dollar fisherprice microphone. Get on that. I've already seen District 9.

*checks the local movies* Never going to be there.
*checks the biggest cinema in 50 miles* nothing.

Seems I have to wait for the dvd release.
... *head bang to desk*
If MovieBob's breathless ranting is to be believed, it's worth the trip to your closest major metropolis.
I've actully checked every cinema in the country. The only one showing it is theater in oslo. the capital. Over eighty miles away. Can I hear anyone say ROADTRIP?!

this movie contains

character development.
understandable action scenes
realistic environments
an entire race of CG characters that you forget are CG within about 5 minutes. even when the cg gets bad or mismatched or they switch to a guy in a latex suite, you don't stop believing in the aliens. (more than just a special effect.)

I wouldn't say this movie is intelligent. it didn't throw me for any loops or surprises. but this movie was very well thought out and portrayed. the detail of the situation and characters was perfect and explained quickly without sidetracking from the central storyline.

this is the first movie of the year that did not disappoint me. and its always great to see unknowns on screen and behind the camera make it to theaters. I'm tired of shitty directors making shitty movies with shitty actors just because they make nifty previews and the public can recognize their name. and im really tired of all the crap remakes, sequels and ripoffs we are getting.

this is an original movie and unlike every other action/horror/thriller/sci-fi movie this year, ITS RATED R.

for the sake of the integrity of film. you should go see this movie twice. Then any other movie you want to see for the next two months, you should buy tickets to this then sneak into the other movie.

It's corporate crap and stuff. Theres some movies that can't earn Worldwide Exibith. Don't ask way. It all comes down to how much money the studios put on that part.

(Or something akin)

I called it, knew Movie Bob was going to review "District 9" (going for double or nothing and betting on "Inglorious Bastards").

This review saddens me some what, not because I disagree with it, not even because I can't see, I can. I ticked that my 15 year old brother can't see this. I'm 18 and I can go buy cigarettes (legally), or go get a lady pregnant (legally), but I'm not deemed worthy enough to be responsible enough to let my brother see this movie. We were so disappointing in all the movies this summer, but wait, District 9! Now I have to rope a 21 year or older friend to see this.

This review just makes it worse for me! ARG! Good review though, I'm surprised that Movie Bob liked it that much. Must see!

I thought that this movie was going to so-so at best but after seeing ign give it a 5 out of 5 star score, and critics giving this an A-, okay I'm going out to see this.

I dont think so Moviebob I saw the movie at an advanced screening last night and I felt it was horrible. The main character was a huge Douchebag and completly unlikable and you CAN get away with that if hes well characterized and his motivations are understandable, BUT they didnt have any Characters besides Christopher, and the Villains were all stupidly evil for no apparent reason WHY did they set up a small slum for them in an african hellhole and not in some place reasonable I get that its social commentary but seriously an explenation for that is needed what we didnt have enough trucks to move them somwhere not in a state of dissaray? WHY were they all horribly rascist? WHY for the love of god did they not clear out the horrible gangs in the area? HOW did they set up district nine with all the horrible things going on there? WHY did the aliens have on again off again superstrength? and the final reason WHY THE FUCK ARE THE ALIENS EVEN HERE? that never got explained in the movie and also what the fuck kind of name is WIKAS?
