I saw the movie yesterday, and I totally agree with Bob on this one. Definitely a very good movie, and I like how much focus is put on the characters.
The randomness annoyed me and so did the "kill important characters off screen or unceremoniously" principle she seemed to be practicing. I've just gotten bored of people mistakenly believing that "death=dark=dramatic=good". Oh, and the deus ex machina fight at the end that sucks all tension out because actually writing a logical, non copout climax would take WORK. I'm not gonna say Rowling's a hack, but I felt her plotting just deteriorated starting at Order of the PhoenixV TheSystem V said:I agree. The people who died were a bit random, but then again, you can't choose who lives and who dies in real life; their actions determine that. Was very very disappointed with the last book, but will probably see the film.Aiddon said:I didn't give a damn about Rowling trying to make me feel anything other than annoyed at a substantial body count, so I'm not going to see it done as a MOVIE. Seriously, it's like she threw darts at a board to see who died so she could go "Isn't it just HEART-WRENCHING!!?!? It's so SAD!". No Rowling, it's freaking JUVENILE.
I too only take joy in realistic entertainment. It's why I mostly watch movies about people going to church and paying their taxes.Stabby Joe said:I have yet to watch a single Harry Potter film so far, and you know what, I intend to keep it that way. I just really can't take it seriously.. wizard school!?
Erm, yeah... that's exactly what I meant... *shakes head*Cakes said:I too only take joy in realistic entertainment. They were eleven and twelve in Harry Potter 1 and 2. They're teenagers thereafter. Hmmm....arc1991 said:Is it just me, or in the first 2 films, the set was nice and bright and cheery...then in number 3 the movie turned Emo and really liked black?
Hold your tongue, ser! The 'Whale Warriors' just serve to be whiny, attention-begging nuisances. (Seriously, what did they think the whalers would do? They're trying to spoil their product, block their routes, and pirate their ship. Did they think the whalers would just sit back and let that happen?) Eco-terrorists at least gave us Werewolf: The Apocalypse. Good game, great game, helluva game.Jin-Roh said:"Green Trolls"TheTygre said:j0frenzy said:1) What channel is trying to declare war on Japan? I seemed to have missed something.Looks like something with that stupid Whale Wars show. I'm more or less against whaling, and even I think these guys are assholes. I'd just ignore them; Green Trolls are green and trolls.Swaki said:what's with the cable network declaring war on japan? i dont follow American or even Danish tv but from what popculture reference i have gathered over the years i would guess that those guys are either some green group or the cast of the deadliest catch, and i dont see how either could start a war.
No more like eco-terrorism....
