SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE!

In a rather anticlimactic way, I assume.
Watch it.
You'll see how painfully correct you are.
Oh dear. This worries me, considering Sirius' death in OotP was rather lax, too.
Still, I wonder how Michael Gambon feels about the whole affair... happy to be done with it, maybe?
Yeah, the movie adaptation directors don't seem to handle the emotional weight of Harry's role models' deaths very well (honestly, the only deaths that were accurately and darkly enough portrayed were those of Harry's parents...and that was only a flashback.)
...Probably cause they didn't read the damn books and thus just see it as another event in the screenplay rather than a tragic loss in the plot.

Very.
The whole movie felt rushed, which is even more terrible considering the fact that the scene it was ultimately building up to was rather minimally portrayed.
(You literally only see a fraction of the action).

You don't use spoilers. Same goes for this review actually, very unprofessional.

It's a good thing to have as a side show -- it keeps the characters interesting and realistic -- but making it the main focus of the movie turns it into a teenage chick flick. Do we really need another one of those?
The thing is, I'm of two minds on this. On the one hand, it has what seems like a disproportionate amount of space in this one. On the other hand, when all is said and done the HP movies have been set up to (eventually) function as a single MASSIVE multi-generational narrative that'll end up totalling 20+ hours... so given that, having ONE 2 1/2 hour piece of that dedicate to their romantic goings-on probably isn't really overkill at all.

What I don't think will change is that this is where the "aging problem" (i.e. the actors are growing faster than their characters) is causing the most trouble - these are CLEARLY actors who look and sound to be in their early-20s getting all frustrated and gooey over one-another like their High School freshmen. I know the English are more "proper" than Americans... but you're gonna tell me that Harry and Ron are sitting up late agonizing over their respective lady-friend's... COMPLEXIONS? Really?

Speaking of which, what sadistic organizational bastard has the older teenagers at Hogwarts still bunking two-or-more to a bedroom? What the hell? No wonder they're so tense, you'd be tense to if you were sixteen (or whatever) and couldn't get a few minutes out of the day to "blow off steam," as it were. Especially since, with the whole moving-photo thing, porno mags for wizards must be out of this world...

Personally I agree with him to such an extent that I hoped he hadn't reviewed this movie as HP is not so much a movie as just a thing that happens every few years and nothing the critics do has any influence.

I know, I know. But really, it's not like that particular spoiler is a huge secret. After all, fans of the series will already know of it, and internet users would know of it as a meme. And indeed, pretty much nobody else except the casual fans would even care.

I definitely agree that the build up to the horcruxes needed to have a bit more focus. The entire plot of the novel basically revolved around Harry's private lessons with Dumbledore, with the romantic coming of age stories as comedic sub-plots. Yet in the movie, Harry never has his lessons with Dumbledore, and the romantic coming of age became the primary focus of the movie.

It was well shot, well acted and they finally got around to making Dumbledore a powerful character, something I felt they failed to do in the 5th movie. However the movies have become so diluted that it's almost unintelligible to people who haven't read the books.

That being said, I still really liked the movie.

What about people who are following the movies rather than the books? Theres a lot of them.

EDIT: Oh, suspended. Quite right too.

I'm curious, who's that blond man with an eyepatch in the "HAHAAA, TENUOUS LITERARY REFERENCES!" clip?

I'm not very familiar with comics and stuff.

Just watched it yesterday. The movies actually helped get me into the books because I really enjoyed the Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban films.

That being said, I felt this one strayed from it's source material more than any other of the previous films. There were a few scenes that were not in the book and they just felt a bit unnecessary and hokey.

Also, the best thing about the book "Half Blood Prince" is you get to learn a great deal about Voldemort and in the film it felt like a side note.

Minor quibbles really. I felt this one was a strong entry in the series and I can't wait for the next 2.

No different than any other dorms, for students who are from out of town. Not everyone can afford their own room in a frat house. ;) I've had friends living in dorms since they started grade 7, and didn't not have a room-mate /w bunk beds until 3rd year of university.

Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. It's his boss, Phil Ken Sebben [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey_Birdman,_Attorney_at_Law#Sebben_.26_Sebben] (voiced by Stephen Colbert)

"Do you know what this means to the firm?! The billable hours?! I can finally build that lake house, and I'll run around naked all day. Ha ha... dangly parts."

I gotta say I really, really love Bob's reviews and it's one of the things besides "Unskippable" and "Zero Punctuation" I look forward to every week; I just wish the editing was a lot tighter. Most of the time the visuals don't synch up with the audio, sometimes off by several critical seconds for comedic timing and relevancy. I realize the videos need to be done in a timely manner to be relevant to new releases, but it hurts when the writing is so good and the video is so sloppy.

I hate this movie and what it did to the book.

This review was better than the others I've watched.

The video was low-quality and timed really REALLY badly.

This is what revising and editing is for, Movie Bob. Please try and review your work before you post it - it not only reflects badly on how you do your work, but also whether your opinions are even worthwhile.

I think your opinions could be worthwhile, so make the extra effort for the viewers, mmmkay? :)

I find these reviews helpful because you usually have the opposite opinion to me, so I can basically ignore your advice. Still entertaining though.

I actually thought this was the worst hp movie and contrary to your opinion about not being about to change opinions about the movies Im definitely not going to watch the next one if it looks as bad as this one.

Heh, so true about film 3 being the best. Book 3 was the strongest as well.
By far for both. Even with time travel as a major plot point. It still had the "weird wizard fun" but underscored it with just enough serious character development and drama.
