One word, ditch this shit and watch hellsing if you want REAL vampires.
yeah thats true, but isn't Twilight supposed to be a romance movie? so comparing them doesn't make sense except that their are vampires in both.

So I didn't notice it so much in your last review, probably because it only came up once or twice, but people were complaining none-the-less. I shrugged and figured whatever, but I guess this review it's back, and with a vengance, so at that I give you one plea, Bob:

No more bleeps, please. Either cut down on your language, or start putting a language disclaimer for the feint of heart at the start of your reviews. Either would be preferable to having a review that sounds like the emergency test channel. x_x

I rented the first movie with no prior knowledge of the series at all, and wow, it's not often that I just want to shut a movie off half-way. I didn't but dear god that vampire baseball scene was lame.

I don't even mind that the vampires sparkle really, but the set up for the sparkle scene was about the worst thing I've ever witnessed. With the whole thing about how she needs to see him as he really appears. Then a race up a mountain to see that in sunlight he...... glitters as if there could be anyway anyone ever thought glitter was terrifying. It's like beauty and the beast except the beast is essentially a male Tinkerbelle.

Another major problem with this crap is that the character Bella is pretty much the worst possible role model for any woman ever unless they trying to go back to being second class citizens. Way to take women down a peg Stephenie Meyer.

Twilight saga, please go away.

I'm a 29 year old man and I liked it. But it's a personal thing. I can understand that most guys can't relate but I think calling a movie bad because you aren't the target audience is biased criticism.
I started looking at movie bob's reviews because I am a game nerd who likes the overthinker. That's his base, that's who he is reviewing this movie for. Of course he didn't like it. And no he can't recommend it to you. It wasn't made for you. It's for teenage girls.
No they aren't your vampires. No you don't ever feel like killing yourself. It's ok not to be like the mass that's flocking to this movie. It's alright to critique the wolves (they do look shitty) but keep in mind the target audience is so caught up in the story that they don't notice.
My only complaint? The same audience who cried when Edward left Bella in the woods didn't even stop chatting when the St. Jude's Hospital cancer promo was on the screen before the previews. Didn't care about those bald dying children, I guess they looked less human than the sparkly vampires.

Well said.
Good Question.
Also well said.

Seriously, is Bob trying to appeal to a wider audience? Are his videos being syndicated to other websites with tighter editorial restrictions? Does this qualify as selling out, and if so, to whom exactly? Is he trying to match the profanity of his writing to the rating of the movie? (PG-13 movie, so PG-13 review?)

He's never censored himself before, so why now?

It doesn't help that, like qazmatoz said, the bleeping is really annoying, like it's engineered to induce seizures. Bloodhound Gang at least used a donkey braying for radio versions of "Fire water burn". Bob, you're a funny and intelligent writer, can't you think of anything better than "BLEEP!"?

All I can say about this series is I hope it makes people want to read other books.

On the films, well, pass for me, not my thing but not that bothered by this series as some seem to be. Luckily no one I know will be dragging me to this, see "The Road" with friends next week.

I have an alternative: Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. The relationship between Charlotte and Meier is far deeper and more authentic than the one between Ed and Bella, which is funny considering that it's an action movie, and not a romantic drama.

theres only 3 types of people that willingly go to see these movies (critics excluded because they dont go willingly) teenage girls, middle aged women and gay guys
Does that mean boyfriends who got dragged to the movie because of their girlfriend are excused too? I certainly didn't go to New Moon willingly and I despise the fact that I was forced to watch it... waste of $8.

I watched it earlier on tonight and i quite enjoyed the movie.

it had a good story and found the film to be quite an emotional rollercoaster.

Its something different and lets face the facts , movie bob is some random person that sits at his computer trying to be the next simon cowell ripping people that are far more successful than himself. ( sorry mate someone had to say it)

When it comes down to it , your either a twilight fan or not, just like marmite.
Oh how I love that kind of "argument". It's been reappearing in these comments quite often, and exclusevly by the appearantly 10 people who actually would describe that franchise as good.
So to all of those people who argue with "Mmmmkay, so you find it bad, but it's just an opinion and anyway you just rip it off because the creator of it is more succesful than you": There are so many flaws in your logic it starts to resemble a sieve.

First of all, unless you have an extremely short attention span (which, admittedly, would explain that affection towards those kind of "vampire"-movies), you might have noticed that Bob also praised several movies he reviewed. And I can bet that every single one of them is more "succesful" (in terms of income) than Bob. So how does your logic apply there? When he rips off a movie you don't like/care about he's right, when he praises a movie that's okay but when he rips off a movie that (for reasons you probably couldn't even name) you like he's suddenly jealous? And on top of that jealous of the creator of the franchise?
Doesn't really make any sense, does it?

Secondly: Yes, there are maaaany people (me amongst them) who find it...let's say injust that people who create absolute atrocities of fiction with no visible effort or love for detail and get shitloads of money for it, while really creative works with really complex stories and characters who took more than half a lunchbreak to create are ignored because watching movies with even a little depths makes the thinkerbox of the average douchebag-demographic hurt.
But that's not why we hate the authors. We hate the authors for creating shallow, sense- and heartless bullshit and sometimes raping beloved settings.
For their undeserved success however we don't hate *them*. For that we blame (and maybe even hate) the people who actually spend their money for this shallow, sense- and heartless crap. Yes, exactly those people with no critical skills at all, who claim every little thing that makes their brain even react the slightest (preferably through dodgy CG-effects)"great fun" and spend every spare dime they have (I don't even want to start guessing where they get that from) into such stuff and therefore reward beforementioned authors for half-assed work.

And yes, those people are generally those who get delusional once they see that half the world opposes their opinion and are responsible for brainless sentences like "You're just jealous of the author", "Well, basically it's all just a matter of opinion and everyone has to decide for himself if the movie is good or not (but still I feel the urge to argue about the quality of the movie)." and (my personal favourite) "Schindler's list is a crappy movie, it doesn't even have any colours."

And no, you are not "either a twilight fan or not". You can just as well be someone who generally likes vampire-scenarios but are getting sick and tired of creativity-lacking authors who do nothing but take standard lovestories and press the "they're vampires"-stamp on them, because they couldn't think of a way to make a lovestory interesting with "just" humans.

New Moon sucks. Im suprised so many older teens and college girls go for this stuff.
I do and I'm a nineteen year old guy. I was planning to see it tonight except a friend (also a guy) who saw it last night said that although it was decent, the amount of screaming fangirls made it less enjoyable, so I may wait until an adult screening is done at the local cinema (i.e. 18 and over only). Have you actually seen it, or made an attempt to see it? If so then your opinion is fair and noted. If you haven't made an attempt to see it then what right do you have to criticise it?

And yes, I do like things like Dracula as well. I simply don't agree that Twilight 'ruined' vampires. Although for all the things I like about the series, I still don't like the 'sparkly' vampires idea.

Yes i love this post... finally someone who thinks like me... Im going to see the movie next weekend when the fuss has died down a bit... Now im able to drag my boyfriend if he is aloud and so there will be 4 of us going. I love the books, love Twilight movie (not one of my favourites though as such), and really am dying to see New Moon :)

It's brilliant that somebody here seems to agree with me, given that the majority of the thread is full of people who have confessed openly that they won't touch the films or books with a bargepole because they've heard how shit they are, yet proceed to proclaim their own hate for the series with absolutely no actual backing to support their own personal opinion. I've done a review on New Moon if you're interested, here's the link:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.156750#3863552

Hopefully people will read it and realise that not all of us fans are screaming 14 year old girls with no self esteem or brains. Some of us are actually sensible people who happen to like a franchise about 'vegetarian' vampires...
