Everyone needs to calm down and stop spreading all this crap about Other M being a piece of garbage. If you can get past the terrible tragedy of what they did to Samus' character and the bad voice acting, theres a very enjoyable Metroid game to be had. I just chose to forget about the cutscenes and use my imagination instead. I strongly believe that if it were a new IP, it would be recieving non-stop praise. However, I can't decide whether I prefer Primes 1st person perspective or this game's 3rd person.
BTW he never said that he hates Prime, or that he thinks Other M is better. He simply said he prefers the new camera- that's all.

Indeed, I didn't play it yet but I hear the story and voice acting are insults to the series. Also I'm finding myself hating Moviebob, anyone who says Metroid Prime sucks is no friend of mine...

Once again, he didn't say he thinks Prime sucks. He didn't even say he thinks Other M is a better game. He just said he prefers the new camera.

Well of course Anderson has gotten better at film-making; nearly anyone gets better with time and practice (even Uwe Boll; his films have gone from so bad they're horrible in a Plan 9 manner to just boring). Still sucks though and his movies are still bad.

A for Bob's little mention of Other M I have to agree to some extent. Fusion and Prime 1 are still my personal favorites, but Other M is still great. Plus it's nice that they didn't reduce Samus to another boring "Man-Hating Ice Queen Who'd Never EVER Accept Instruction From ANY Man" as stated by Bob himself and instead gave the space marine archetype that Samus arguably prototyped elements of femininity, conflict, vulnerability, and quiet strength which makes her WAY more interesting a character than the utterly safe, estrogen-allergic action heroines stinking up gaming and other media. It'd be funny if Bob used the game's Theater Mode for a review, though Unskippable is going to use it anyway plus if Bob wanted to go really nuts he'd use some of Other M's more controversial moments as a topic for an Overthinker episode.

...I'm now getting the troubled feeling that this thread is going to talk more about Other M than the movie it's supposed to be about.

I'm only going to see this because Humans vs Zombies at my college is making a thing out of it.

And for those who don't know Humans vs Zombies is basically a persistent game of tag that you are always playing that spans the course of about 2 weeks. Humans defend themselves with nerf guns. Zombies jump out of trees when their friends leave their dorms to tag them and zombify them. Its a fucking awesome game.

Yeah, it's just a shame that they reduced her to another boring anime emotional monologuing stereotype who obsesses over a man the entire game instead.

I think there'll be many things flying into the screen, which isn't good. I'm not oppsed to 3D in general, but I've only enjoyed it in Toy Story 3 where no stuff is in your face.

The thing that bothered me about the Resident Evil movies is that first one they introduce the main character and kill off most of them except two. The second one they introduce more characters kill off the one that survived in the first one and stick with the main character who is now with a group. Third one they introduce more characters kill off most of them even the love interest and send the rest away to Movie Hell where they will most likely never be seen again. Then make a sequel with the main character.

This seems more like a series on SciFi than it does a movie series. With the end of Extinction playing out as a lead on to a Resident Evil Movie.

Well I like how it has more to do with Resident Evil 5, so I can watch it with my friend for extra 'Albert Wesker is trying really hard to be Neo' jokes. Although it does just make the RE continuity even worse.

Giving me a physical headache doesn't qualify 3D as "harmless". Also, if you have extra change in your pocket that you would like to throw at someone just by using some stupid gimmick, I hear they are selling rubber bands in wacky shapes now. Ooo, rubber bands! haha

I was able to get into the first movie and while I remember the second one being fun after that point I completely lot interest in the series. I think I started watching 3 one day and a short while in felt that I really could be doing something else.

as far as the review goes he's got a good point about the Residen Evil movies being a "look at my hot wife" series. I hadn't really thought about it, but after a bit I realized the Underworld movies are another great example of it with Len Wiseman as a director and Kate Beckinsale as an actress.

I'm definitely not going to see this one. I saw most of extinction and that was enough for me to never bother with this series again.

It was a very good review... until you mentioned that the atrocious Metroid Other M is better than Metroid Prime. That said, I think Val Kilmer was to busy to be in MacGruber. While the Avatar 3D is a very nice touch, I think anderson whould never write scripts for his movies ever again! The main reason Event Horizon worked,is because he didn't write the script. While in Resident Evil he did for every single movie and they sucked, though he only directed the first and the fourth one.

I think people tend to forget how incredibly bad the games were before Resident Evil 4... People think they were good because there was almost nothing like it at the time the first one came out. But Capcom sticking to the same game mechanics (fixed camera, limited saving locations and opportunities to save, etc.) years after the PS1 was gone is just baffling.
