And despite its goofy name we all know Bob is probably going to do an Overthinker episode about the WiiU. Heck, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the thing. Though I wish everyone from journalists to gamers would stop bitching and pretending like they're some financial or industry expert.

Great review, now I know what the movie is actually about. As you said, they liked hiding things, well they did so much hiding in the television trailer I had no idea what the movie was about, and not the way that makes me interested in seeing what it is about.

From the trailer, as far as I could guess, it could have been a movie about some kids and pets being kidnapped by some nutcase. Not once did I get the idea it was an alien movie.

I was worried when I saw the first lens flare, I thought my monitor was starting to die or something. Nice visual gag, Bob. :-D

I use a 32 inch HDTV as my monitor, and I thought the same thing. I actually paused the video before the gag reveal, saying, "oh, no, no no, please no!"

I paused the vid and flipped through my tabs to make sure mine wasn't taking a crap.

I killed the full screen on the video to make sure it was supposed to be there.
But yeah, I think I remember seeing a trailer for this when the original Iron Man movie came out. It mostly left a big "WTF?" on my face, really. Anything that gets hyped that far in advance is bound to suck, IMHO.

Same here, my monitor hasn't been enjoying the high heat and humidity and I figured it was finally about to bite it.

slightly off the movie topic Bob but i believe Smash Bros is also going to be on the 3DS this time around if i remember the press conference =D.

anyway yeah i wasn't all that hyped for this one, maybe its something ill see if it airs on TV in a few years or something.

True, JJ loves his lens flares. I once tried a drinking game where you take a shot every time a lens flare comes up in Star Trek. Needless to say, it only lasted about 2 minutes before someone realized it would straight-up kill us.

The lens flare gave me a headache. I knew what Bob was doing, but it lasted too long.

As for the movie, I am not a JJ Abrams fan so I didn't really expect much from this. Pretty much confirms what I expected.

Sound like a classic Abrams "I set the bar now watch me trip over it" moment, it;s nice to know the main plot works and the child actors give a good performance (any screenshots of the monster BTW?)

The movie is brilliant and a lot more than a simple nostalgia trip. Honestly I wasn't even thinking of all those other movies while watching it. I'm as far from a JJ fan as you can get, and it annoys me when people compare him to Spielberg, but on this one - he nailed it.

I thought the Lens Flare had been a rendering/uploading/exporting error that Bob hadn't fixed yet. It lasted way too long for the humor that it ultimately had. Too much hype and mystery, when that mystery ultimately turns out to be nothing you aren't expecting if you've seen any JJ Abrams movies.
