You know, through your whole review I thought in the back of my mind, "Hey, don't really see the problem here. It'll be a fun popcorn movie and no harm done." And then at then end you mentioned all the other mediocre or just plain bad films that would come out of this doing well. Yeah, now I'm a little bit mad.

For once, I actually disagree with you on a movie. A friend and I think you thought too much into it. It's like "Shoot 'em Up." Its full of wholesome violence. The previews show that its chalk full of it, and you go in expecting that. That's exactly what it was. It delivered on that big time (with a lack of blood, sadly, yes.) And about your Piranha 3D "P.S" in the video. That movie was a fist full of suck minus all the tits you get to see. The 3D in it may as well be like all those movies that 3D becomes an afterthought and they add it later. Nothing about that movie made it 3D worthy, it's hardly even watch worthy.

I was halfway hoping to see that or Piranhas reviewed. I'm pretty sure that Vampires Suck is going to be about as bad as Meet the Spartans, but I was hoping to hear if all the funny parts to Vampires Suck were in the commercials. Because those commercials were pretty damn funny.

Personally, I loved The Expendables. It was nothing more than an '80s movie with a 21st century budget and 21st century effects...and it was glorious! Yes, the plot was thin and Randy Cotoure didn't need to be in there. But the action was awesome and Statham and Crews stole the show. I really like your reviews Bob, but don't insult me and others just because I happened to really enjoy this movie.

I'm probably the opposite here, but I think over the year (or years, I can't remember) Bob, I've grown to respect you as a movie reviewer.

At first I was totally against you because of your harsh opinions on stuff like Trek, but at the time I was never able to watch most of these films and just assumed you were against it cause you were too indie. Guess, what, I've watched them properly now, and you're right (and I was wrong), they are pretty bad. Expedndables apparently included.

Expendables seems to be nothing more than main stream PG-13 stuff trying to be R-Rated nostalgia and I'll trust you on this one when you say not to watch it. When Expendables and Scott Pilgrim come round to the cinema's, I'll be choosing Pilgrim.

I didn't think it was that awful, but yeah, looking back on it, I'm sorry I watched this. The only consellations I have are that I saw Scott Pilgrim and had it rock my world before and I lost the ticket (and with it, any evidence I saw Expendables) after.

Seriously, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is THAT DAMN AWESOME that it actually carried over and made me like The Expendables.

I can't believe Bob this week. We are obedient sheep because we go see one of the biggest collaboration films this decade instead of watching a film that was barely advertised in many places? We are the worst kind of people on earth because we like the premise that a movie will be an homage to 80s action films?

He dropped the ball on this review. Insulting a film is one thing, insulting someone for liking it is another, but insulting people for thinking the premise sounds like a fun idea?. That's a new low. I won't even go into how much I disagree with you on the quality of the film.

For someone who tries to hinder people from being elitist nerds, you are one of the biggest elitist nerds I've seen in quite a while.

That was his whole rant though - it was a movie that was marketed as an homage to what most of us grew up watching. Period. The actual movie was the worst kind of movie, but because of the marketing it topped the box office.

You even support that when you ask, "We are obedient sheep because we go see one of the biggest collaboration films this decade instead of watching a film that was barely advertised in many places?" It's just difficult not to bring that sentence up, because of how it undercuts your your own position. Implicitly stating that a movie isn't worth your time because it's not advertised doesn't bode well for the rest of your argument.

I for one would love to see a homage to cheesy 80's movies I grew up with. I watch Total Recall at least once a month. Actually come to think of it I did see a movie that hit every piece on my homage checklist - The A-Team.

The whole SPVTW Vs. The Expendables situation is like an status update on the decades old "Nerds Vs. Jocks" war.

For all those who say Bob became an elitist critic: The A-Team should probably be considered your typical dumb action movie, but it's good at it, and Bob acknowledged that. The main difference between Bob and most mainstream film critics, is that he gets our generation, he knows when a movie is supposed to be critized with "quality cinema" in mind, and when it's just for fun. So when he says a dumb action movie is bad, I f*cking take his word. So should you.
