I honestly never liked Tobey Maguire as spiderman. He didn't convey the humor that peter is supposed to use all the time very well. I don't know this new actor they are going to play spiderman but honestly I can't see him being worse then Tobey.

And I would really LIKE to have a good spiderman movie.

Honestly the movies so far have been ok, but missing a vital part in my opinion. The humor should be one of the biggest parts and it has been missing all together pretty much.

So yes, reboot it please, just do a better job this time. Thanks

They aren't rebooting Spider-man and X-men because of some continuity thing that's easily (if really lamely) explained away. (Nobody else new about Doc Ock's secret lab, nobody else knew about the Statue of Liberty, etc.). They're rebooting because Spider-man 3 and X-men 3 sucked. And sucked hard. And ruined the franchise for a lot of people.
Technically, they're rebooting Spider-Man for two reasons, neither of which have anything to do with the studio disliking the 3rd one - they DON'T, it made the most money of the entire series ;) Also, the people "in charge" of the reboot are the ones who suggested/insisted-upon all the stuff that went wrong in part 3 and then fired the director when he wouldn't let them pull the same stuff on #4.

REASON #2: Every studio wants to have their own version of "Twilight," and Sony is betting that sending Spider-Man back to High School and involving him in "love triangle" situations with other characters this can be theirs. The last anyone heard about the proposed story it was a "new" origin-story built around a Peter/MJ/Gwen Stacy/Flash Thompson fighting-over-boyfriends/girlfriends deal with smaller-scale action stuff and minimal use of the Spider-Man costume (though that may have changed) so... basically they want "Twilight" but with the genders-swapped and now Bella is Spider-Man. Sounds awesome ;)

REASON #1: If Sony doesn't make another Spider-Man movie within a certain amount of time, the "movie rights" to the character revert back to Marvel Films. If that happens, Marvel would likely immediately fold the character into their "shared universe" (Coming Soon: "The Avengers meet SPIDER-MAN!!!!") and make a FORTUNE, and a bunch of mid-level executives at Sony would get axed as "the guys who let Spider-Man get away." This is also why Fox is re-doing X-Men and Fantastic Four, though at least X-Men seems to be going in an interesting direction...
I can understand your reason #1 (the studios wanting to keep the rights), but I'm not sure about your reason #2.
I thought they were rebooting Spidey because of the outcry of Marvel and Spidey fans. Spiderman is a kid when he was bitten by the spider (if you read comics or watch the TV show). When he fights crime, he does it as a teenager. Also Spiderman is super sarcastic and that was missing in all of the Spidey films. I want to see a wise cracking, young Spidey.

Also, the choice of actor was pretty terrible. The Green Goblin and Doc Oct characters were pretty spot on, but most other characters were massive failures. Toby Macguire is too old, doesn't look the part and is honestly a pain to watch on screen. He doesn't have any attributes that would even make me think he COULD be Spiderman. Mary Jane was awful too. Whiny, old and just awkward.

Now, I think a reboot is risky, but needed. A reboot would help revamp the series and give it a fresh breath of air. Hopefully with new characters and new script, the reboot will be a success.

Nahhhh

Never had any intention of watching, look really f'ng boring, like that crappy movie with the MIT kids, 21.

The problem is....real life sucks. The words "Based on a True Story" almost guarantees the movie will be shitty, because real life is boring. And therefore movies ABOUT real life are boring.
It guarantees the movie will be shitty?

Really? So:

Goodfellas
Casino
Braveheart
Saving Private Ryan
Erin Brokovich
Ali
Ghandi
Shindler's List
Black Hawk Down
Catch Me If You Can
The Pianist
Monster
Hotel Rwanda
Walk the Line
Ray
Finding Neverland
Basketball Diaries
Munich
Syriana
The Last King of Scotland
300
American Gangster
Into the Wild
Defiance
Invictus

were all bad movies right? Since they were all based on true events.

OT: I can't wait to see this movie, everything about it seems great from directing, to script, to even actors.

Eh, the movie still reeks of bandwagon jumping altogether. I might see it, might not.

I'm kind of surprised that all these reviews seem so positive. I'm not expecting Zero Punctuation, of course, but when most of the movies get a thumbs up you have to wonder about the worth of the piece...

Yea, you're absolutely right. Nothing even remotely interesting ever happens in real life. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVVzR8zIvoA&feature=related]

I'll watch it, but I guarantee you if they portray Mark Zuckerberg as some kind of free internet hero then I'll hate it. Zuckerberg is scum, I have no problem with Facebook but I have a problem with him.

Your list was decent, even spot on, til you tried to pass off 300 in it, which is based off a Graphic Novel. Saying its a based off a true story is so far from the truth. Its based ever so loosely upon a battle that had 300 spartans AND an army, and never had a pit, never had ogres or giant men.

As for this movie? I could care less. Just because the movie has a damn good director, doesn't mean I should, or even need to, see it. Just because critics are loving it, and people say its a damn good Human Drama, doesn't mean I am obligated to watch it, and ignore the whole focal point of it is.

I get a weird vibe from the movie, something telling me Zukerburg wanted to make himself look like a decent guy who was just trying to get back at some people, and suffered crap while trying to do something. Did he probably have hardships? Sure. But the guy is a total prick, who cares little for the people using his site, even to the point of calling them fucking stupid for trusting it, and is more than willing to sell off personal information to friends. All this movie seems like, to me, is an attempt to try and show him in a positive light.
I knew someone would get picky and point this out. Loosely based on a true story is sill based on a true story. I never specified to which degree of accuracy I was relating my list of movies too. I obviously was just trying to prove a point that such a statement is ridiculous.

Based on a true story means the following:

"Oh so this happened in real life?"

"Yea!"

"Wanna make movie using that as our BASE?"

"Yea!"

"But it'll be almost completely different from the original event, but will still maintain a few key aspects of the truth, is that ok?"

"Yea!"

"Ok, let's make a movie"

Some people just hate Micheal Cera.
Other people just hate Seth Rogen.
I just hate Justin Timberlake.

I seen him in to many stupid pop videos dry humping some hip chick to take him serious as an actor.

BAWW Someone is more successful than me, now I'm gonna hate 'em for it!
That guy donates hundreds of millions to charity. What have you done lately? By the way, the critics are actually saying that the movie depicts him as some kind of jerkass like you say, so I guess you can rejoice along with everyone else out there who didn't have the entrepeneurial spirit he had.

Ok well this:

"I seen him in to many stupid pop videos dry humping some hip chick to take him serious as an actor."

is a valid reason to dislike him.

But this:

"people just hate Micheal Cera.
Other people just hate Seth Rogen.
I just hate Justin Timberlake."

is never a statement that can make sense. There is a reason for everything. But you have a valid one so....yea

Someone who's also called his customers 'dumb fucks' because he openly shared their private information with friends of his who asked. Someone who has stated that he doesn't believe in privacy, yet refuses to publish his own private revenues due to hypocrisy.

And don't give me crap about hating someone because they're rich. It doesn't factor in, what factors in is the way he treats his customer base. If it weren't for the fact that the majority of Facebook employees are rebellious little pro-privacy nuts, Zuckerberg would be selling information left and right.

What a surprise! Another review by someone who hates social networks, and loves this movie!

Normally, I love you MovieBob, but this time you've fallen into the same trap as everyone else (including everyone involved in making the movie,) by insinuating that this movie is remotely accurate to real life.

The movie is fiction. To be clear, I'm not a fan of Zuck, and I think he's trouble. But, this movie is based on a book which fictionalized interviews from Eduardo Saverin and the Winkelvos twins, so right from the start it's biased against Zuckerberg. Then, the movie was written by Aaron Sorkin, who OPENLY ADMITS that he didn't bother trying to find the truth, and simply wanted to write a work of FICTION about real people and events. No one involved uses Facebook, and thus no one understands what it is or why it's important. Like it or hate it, Facebook is one of the most important and culture-changing products in a long time.

No matter how well made, well written or produced, I cannot in good faith support a movie that blatantly ignores any form of accuracy about characters or events, when it claims to represent true stories. And, I cannot support a movie that tries to damn hard to avoid WHY Facebook is important, and WHY Zuck did what he did.

And you wouldn't if you had that kind of power? I'm sure the guy probably says asshole things all the time, but is any of that reason enough to hate him? Hell I know how important his work is and I don't even use facebook. I'd just hate to see a film that paints him as the bad guy just because he became more influential while his friends supposedly "got left behind." As billionaires.

Hmmm, a movie about Facebook that actually seems to be fairly good? I may be interested in seeing this one. I'm debating on whether or not to see it or Buried as a birthday gift from my folks when I go visit them.

Did he do it for attention and money? Because I think he did it for attention and money.
