Say it ain't so, Bob!

Tim and Eric aren't funny, they are not Andy Kaufman, and the only time their shows are funny is when they have real comedians guest star.

Wonder Showzen and Kids in the Hall did it all better than them.

I think we all need to ask ourselves this: How the hell do they still have jobs and a show?!

Seriously, the pure idiocy in their sketches is just ridiculous. Anytime I see their show come on, I switch the channel immediately. I don't care about it being gross or whatever, it's just how stupid they can be. Likewise with many other people, I have no idea who their target audience is other than constant stoners and people with the equivalent I.Q. of a 3 year old.

I just wish we had the old cartoon network back, it was so much more enjoyable. This new crap is mentally exhausting.

I really do not understand bob at some points, he likes movies such as the Artist and then and goes and likes this silly stuff.. confusion insues..

I've never watched anything like this before so I don't know what its like but it seems to be following the stuff the Monty Python boys did long ago, except worse, not funny and completely disgusting..?

I would have sympathy with the executioner if these two were burnt at the stake. It would be for the greater good of mankind.

Judging from the scenes used in the review it looks horrible. I doubt our theaters would even show it.

And all that the Lorax left here in this mess
was a small pile of rocks, with one word...
UNLESS.
Whatever that meant, well, I just couldn´t guess.

That was long, long ago.
But each day since that day
I´ve sat here and worried
and worried away.
Through the years, while my buildings
have fallen apart,
I´ve worried about it
with all of my heart.

But now, says the Once-ler,
Now that you´re here,
the word of the Lorax seems perfectly clear.
UNLESS someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
BUYS A HYBRID SUV
nothing is going to get better.
It´s not.

Doesnt the Lorax come out this week? I would have much rather seen the review for that.

As for Tim and Eric, I LOVE how most of the posters admit they havent watched the TV Program or have no intent on seeing the movie. My advice to you - Go away. We don't want the opinion of people who hate for the sake of hating. You don't really have the right to be posting here, but thats just my opinion. Hell, some of you admit you didnt even watch BOB. Its like you just want to pick a fight - do you have anything better to do with your time then trolling?

Tim and Eric has a very niche audience. Its for people who like the off-the-wall, slap-stick, 'I just took like 4 bong rips and dont feel like reaching for the remote' kind of audience. Thats not everyones sence of humor - you don't see people who DO find that humerous tearing down YOUR opinions on The Hangover, or whatever generic comedy you find appealing.

If you bothered to watch Movie Bob, he brings this up. I think he's wrong about the stoner thing, almost everyone I know who watches the show watches it high. I don't get the show, yet stoners seem to understand it alot better than I do. Apples and Oranges though.

It was a very good review, and I do like the points you covered. Overall, a spot on review.

I'm kind of in the middle on this one. I have some respect for Tim and Eric. They do have a strong grasp of parody and produce some of the most avant-garde comedy I've ever seen.

I really just can't handle some of their bits, though. Especially the scatological stuff. Just can not handle it.

It should be noted that they are sort of a "comedians comedy team". That is, other more famous comedians seem to love them and give them a lot of support.

The part where there is a cohesive story line of morally ambiguous businessmen trying to save a failing mall for the wrong reasons with bad folksy advertising stuff looks good. Then the Tim and Eric Awesome Show stuff in bettween makes me confident I will never see it.

Didn't even watch the review...I've sworn never to watch anything involving those to just horribly...indescribably stupid jackasses. Seriously though, I challenge anyone to accurately describe who/what their target audience is without saying "the types of freaks that get stuffed into lockers or perform school shootings" because those two are obvious.

Well, it worked for South Park, so it MIGHT work for this one.
Problem with that theory is that South Park is a show that's actually GOOD. Tim and Eric Sodomize Each Other for 11 Minutes - while having an obscenely long name - is a crime against man, nature, and God. Seriously, I can think of no more terrifying hell than having to watch a 90 minute long Tim and Eric episode.

I'm almost speechless, a Good review for the Tim and Eric Movie?
Tim and Eric singled ruined Adult Swim and turned it in nothing more then another television wasteland that's only saving grace is The Venture Bros. My God Moviebob I think you may have broken the camels back on this one. I no longer have hope or respect for humanity anymore. Well now at least I can begin my super villainous endeavors. So when the entire west cost is encased in ice from my freeze ray just know that this review is the reason why.
Yeah, when Tom Blows the Mayor came out on Adult Swim, I knew we were headed for the downfall. Sure enough the follow that one up with the above mentioned Tim and Eric Sodomy Show followed by a long line of god-awful live action shows. Evidently they forgot that people don't want to see retards humping doorknobs, they want Sealab 2021, ATHF, Venture Bros., and Family Guy re-runs.
For the life of me I still don't get why they show shit like Tim and Eric, Children Hospital and the rest of the non-cartoon garbage they choose tho show on a network called CARTOON NETWORK. God I miss the good old days when half the night was American toons and the other half was anime.
Seriously...I have no fucking clue how Tim and Eric or any of the live action shows were renewed for more than 1 season, and yet shows like Sealab, Harvey Birdman, and Frisky Dingo got the chop.

Needless to say, I stopped watching Adult Swim a lllooonnnggg time ago.

I rarely watch anymore, I'm burned out on King of the Hill and Family Guy re-runs to the point that I can't enjoy them anymore. The only time I do watch [AS] is for new episodes of Venture Bros.
There line up practices never cease to horrify me: Lucy Daughter of the Devil- Cancelled, Moral Oral - Ended/Cancelled, Anime forced into 1 night, with only 1 or 2 new programs and the rest endlessly repeating reruns of Inuyasha and Ghost in the Shell.

Meanwhile: Delocated on its 3rd season, Eagleheart renewed for a 2nd season, Children's Hospital for a 4th as well as a T&E spin off about Dr. Steve Brule green lit. It fucking makes me sick Adult Swim used to be the high light of my day, At one point my sleeping schedule was fucked just because I had to watch.
Theres a rumor that those shows are still around because Tim and Eric don't like shows like Lucy and the Sat lineup and threatened to not renew their contracts and go solo if they weren't canned.

I personally don't believe it cause the animes still around but that rumor still pops up once and awhile.

...So, it's a crass couple of hours of leftist media moguls poking "fun" at their bigoted view of Conservative America?

I'll skip, thanks. Call me when they take on Hollywood with the same degree of distaste.

I don't hate the show. I don't like it. I don't really understand why people find it so funny. I "get" it. Its just more tragic than comedic for me.

It's been years since I watched anything Adult Swim had to offer. When I was younger, their stuff always rubbed me the wrong way with its bleak humor, so I abandoned it. Especially when it became clear that they cared significantly more for their cheap animated garbage like 12 Ounce Mouse than the actually good anime. Eventually, I stopped watching TV for the most part, though nowadays I watch more of the Hub than anything else.

At least when they have the cartoons I like on it, and not just reruns of old game shows.

Anyway, I've never watched Tim and Eric, but from descriptions I probably wouldn't like it. That being said, I can't exactly say I would hate this movie, though again I probably wouldn't like it.

I really can't stand them. It's such low brow humor spawned entirely off being as random as possible. They really do have a mindset of elementary school comedy.

Like the way they're running in the trailer? What is that?

I love how everybody hates Tim and Eric, but can't articulate it. Tell me WHY you hate Tim and Eric. Don't just say "it sux lololol".

I, for one, think Tim and Eric are fucking hilarious.
Could you articulate WHY you find it funny? Honestly, this is just like Twilight; the people who hate it have to explain why, going into detailed descriptions of how the romance is stalkerish and reminiscent of abuse, the characters come across as self-absorbed and egomaniacal, and the whole "imprinting" thing in the fouth book can be summarised with the words (courtesy of The Spoony One) "I love this baby soo much! I'm gonna f**k it one day!"

Meanwhile, the people who love the books can get away with saying "OMG Twilight's te rulezors!" and similarly vapid vocalizations. If you like something, you can't demand that the people who don't explain themselves without first giving your own view of things.

I'm sorry but the brand of "awkward, surreal" humor isn't funny to me. It's just awkward. And surreal. The little adverts on adult swim when they come back or go to commercials is so terribly awkward enough I don't need a 15 minute show of that and surely don't need a feature length film of that.

I don't mind that people like these show. The fact that Bob likes them throws his revciews into question to me but he has yet to send me to something I don't like(how he would do that I don't know)so I guess its cool. I really do not like the show either Tom goes to the Mayor although I could tolerate it, or Awesome show which I could net stand I just found it too stupid it doesn't matter what it might mean or reference I found the presentation and content to be blunt straight out offensive and repulsive. But as I said I have no problem with people enjoying it. What I do have a problem with is what adult swim dropped to make space for all of this awful awful live action stuff. They had shows like Big O and Lupin the Third and Cowboy Bebop, as well as the more comedic things like venture brothers and athf (which I'm pleased are still around.) I wish this stuff had been put on another channel instead of replacing good things that I enjoyed with this crap. dang. On the bright side I'm starting to enjoy Adventure Time.

Bob, I'm going to level with you here. I'm happy you speak your mind, I don't hold it against you that you like Tim & Eric, really I don't. Comedy is very subjective after all.

However, seeing as I'd rather have my genitals tattooed by hand with a pointed stick that was plucked off a sycamore tree in winter than watch even the commercials for the Tim and bloody Eric show, I feel as though your opinions on comedy do not match my own in this regard.

Still, I generally agree with you about other films, but from now on, gonna take your reviews of the comedy genre with a grain of salt man.

THIS SERIES RUINED ADULT SWIM OMG AND ANOTHER THING I HAVE LOST ALL RESPEKT 4 MOVIEBOB CUZ HE LIKES THIS etc, etc, etc.

The thing about absurd/surreal humor is it relies on a gut reaction. If you start watching it with preconceived notions of what you want to be funny... then it won't be funny. Think Monty Python--you can't really pinpoint why a guy in chainmail saying "Nee!" is hilarious, it just is in some unexpected, ridiculous way. The best jokes are the ones that make you laugh immediately, for reasons you're not even sure why.

Maybe a better comparison (albeit non-comedy) would be Salvatore Dahli. His art defies all rational thought and sane interpretation to provoke a reaction. In the case of shows like Tom Goes to the Mayor or The Mighty Boosh, this meaning is reflected in their own surreal zanyness. They give you a sense of familiar reality, then twist it like a pretzel and turn the dials everywhere on everything so you're left thinking "What the fuck?" and "Did that really just happen?" and even "Where am I?"

Your brain either recoils ("I hate this!") or absorbs it (you laugh).

Sure, I agree that a lot of Tim & Eric is excruciating and the vulgar gags and disgusting freeze-shots are overdone, but it's the way Zach Galifianakis snuggles people back to health...

Or how the Cinco ads KILL late night paid advertisers selling useless products endorsed by B-list celebrities...

If you don't know why either of those videos are funny, then you're trying too hard. Stop waiting for a logically constructed punchline--there is none. Just laugh. You don't have to be a giggling stoner hyena or wasted on drugs to appreciate bizarre humor.
