kinda looks like it would be better for 6 and up, do you guys think 4 might be a bit too young for this?
I should preface by saying that, for what it's worth, I tend to regard any age below 5 or 6 as too young to see ANYTHING in a theater unless they are exceptionally well-behaved (and by "exceptionally" I pretty much mean people are routinely asking "is that child okay? most of them make more noise") or it's a specified "people with young kids" screenings.

Not so much for the "noise" factor, since obvious a 4 year-old isn't a "crying baby" situation, but more in general concern for the kids themselves: A movie theater is a huge, dark, loud, usually poorly-ventillated chamber full of strangers and germs - not necessarily the first place I'd bring a toddler or that I imagine most toddlers would want to be. But, like I said, I'm not in the business of telling people what they should do with children in their care and your mileage may vary. I honestly don't remember what "age" I was when I first went to an actual theater...

My advice would be to show her one of the trailers/clips online and see if she's interested. Those do a pretty good job showing the general tone of the movie in this case.

taken her to see monsters vs aliens and ice age the meltdown and she was very well behaved durring those, didn't make a peep just stared at the screen and ocassionally tapped me for airheads and a drink of soda =P That was when she was 3 and a half or so, shes actually turning 4 in december.

think i'll just try your suggestion and see if she wants to give it a go, tnx

Saw this last night......

Good film. Didnt blow my mind, didnt crucify the childhood memory either.

Its been a while since I read the book but it felt there were a lot of departures from the story (expected due to the length). can anyone comment (Spoiler it if neccessary)

Thanks!

I can tell he really liked it. Not once did he swear in anger at the movie. What a delightful film this time of the year.

I saw this movie and i agree with your point of view however i found this movie to be insanely boring and or slightly annoying.. I dunno what it is its probably because i hate kids.. I hate babys i hate 8-12 year olds i only like toddlers.. Toddlers cant say much know how to have fun and are just the best stage of childhood Teenagers never shut up and or always get in trouble adults preach dont but dont follow there own rules.. SO ON AND SO ON.. This movie really annoyed me to no end.. Hell i didnt even get past the end.. I rage quit because the voices and the stupid little boy were pissing me off to much..

I think I am dissapointed that when I saw the movie, I saw it through the child's perspective with adult reasoning. I guess it would be different if I had kids...

Though my adult reasoning hated the fact that Max often didn't know the right things to say, often seemed quite out of place, which would be odd if you are flirting with the possibility that it's all in his head (I always know what to say when I'm imagining things, maybe that's just me though) And between the guy losing his arm and it being replaced by a twig, and the fact that there was no real closure for the wild things... Though the biggest sin of all was cutting out the line "Dinner was still warm"

The soundtrack was fantastic though.
