Hi all.

I recently got a new PC with with the following specs -

CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition
Operating System: Microsoft® Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Motherboard: Asus M4N68T-M
Memory: 4.0GB Corsair DDR3 1600mhz XMS3 CL9 (2x 2GB)
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 6850 1GB
HDD: 500GB

Now, notice the graphics card?
Yes, Im having a problem with it.

My PC doesn't show up as having it installed in Device Manager.
Instead it uses the onboard graphics chip, and I cant get it to recognize the card.
I've tried installing the latest drivers for it. Nothing.
I've tried disabling the onboard graphics in device manager, then re-installing the drivers.
Nothing.

I installed something called Device Detective, and when it scans it finds the Graphics Card, but registers it "unplugged", but surely it must be in for it to even find it?

I'm not sure what to do, and I'd appreciate some advice.
Ill answer any further questions.

Thanks.

I'm going to start you off with what is probably a stupid question, but I just need to check.

Is it plugged in? not just in your motherboard, but into the PSU as well?

It is. Before I started it up the very first time I checked that everything was in place, incas some wiring etc had come undone whilst it was transported.

Hmmm....I had this problem once and I am trying to remember exactly how I fixed it.

Try rebooting the computer and going in through the BIOS. I believe from there you can switch your graphics card to the default one instead of it being the onboard.

Hopefully this helps =)

Going through the BIOS, I cant find an option to change the primary display driver.
Only an option to disable the onboard graphics.

I've already tried that, nothing happens. As in, no attempts are made to find another graphic display. Nothing

Sorry then, I am not exactly sure what to do =\

Have you double checked all the connections for your card? Your motherboard should have some with a manual of sorts, maybe it has something in there about disabling the onboard video and enabling a separate card.

That's all that is left that I can think of =\

Personally, I would check to see if the problem was the GC itself. I would first reseat the GC, if there are still problems I would get another GC to test the PCI-E ports or you could use a other card that uses the slots. The secondary GC doesn't have to be extraordinary, get an very old card off E-bay be it Nvida or ATI/AMD.

You got a Pre-built? Contact the supplier for further assistance.
