Because every news source is biased. The best historian is the one you can identify his bias and then be able to read his writings while ignoring his bias. When you do not know what is his bias, you take everything he writes as truth.
I could not have said it better myself. Quoted for truth.

It's just one of the many sites I use for my news. I check several news sites a day and Fox happens to be one of them. Keep in mind I don't listen to any of the commentators like Beck or Hannity, so anything they say doesn't affect my view of Fox. I hate commentators on all sides, especially Olbermann and Savage.

Every time I watch a clip from Fox news I genuinely want to kill myself.

...I'm on fucking anti-depressants but they don't work when in the face of Fox news as a little part of myself dies inside.

I like Bill O'Rilly. He might be the most honest commentator out there. Note, I did not say completely honest JUST the most honest (Like the most honest thief, or the most honest car sales man.). Now, I am including all media outlets CNN, MSNBC, and FOX. I try to watch CNN and Fox (MSNBC just pisses me off since Rachele Murdock and the FT. Hood attacks, I will not go into details here).
Hmm, Bill O'Reilly is about the only commentator that I don't like on Fox. And Glenn Beck, though he isn't on there anymore.

I know there have to be some people on this site who watch Fox...why do you? Is it for comedic purposes, or do you consider it a legitimate news source?
It is a legitimate news source, it's just the only major news sources that tends to have a more right wing spin, as such it's hated by the left wing. Given that the left wing controls most of the rest of the media, and doesn't really like the opposing viewpoint, what mistakes Fox makes are more frequently broadcast, and more people are looking to jump on them. Given the huge left wing prescence on this site, Fox news hatred is pretty much the standard.

I don't consider Fox perfect, far from it, but I tend to appreciate it's existance even if I don't agree with it on anything. The other major news networks make just as many mistakes and are just as biased in their own way, I can't consider them more accurate.

In the end I tend to feel that the truth of most matters tends to be somewhere between Fox and the other news networks. I think ALL of the televised news is about political spin nowadays and thus none of it is unbiased and accurate

Of course then again I am one of the very few vocal right wingers on this site, and overall I'm kind of middle of the road since I go left on a few issues. My opinion probably doesn't surprise anyone.

As a side note I believe the media in the civilized world is actually better ar reporting the antic of celebrities than actual news and world events.... and I mean this almost universally, not just in the US.

I always find this talk hilarious. Everyone claims how terrible Fox is and all the bad things it does but in the end, it really is the most fair and balanced. Just don't take my word for it.

Most people get mixed up between the Fox News part and the Opinion parts of the channel.

Because I've got this study [http://www.journalism.org/analysis_report/cr]

And a few choice quotes on the subject [http://pearlyabraham.tripod.com/htmls/media-quotes.html] which all say that you're not telling the truth.

But feel free to provide credible evidence to the contrary.

I honestly have no idea.
Hell, the Daily Show is a comedy show that doesn't bother to check facts and it's STILL more accurate (and entertaining) than FOX

Is the opposite of

a legitimate news Outlet.

Fox News is terrible. American news, in general, is pretty terrible, but FOX is REALLY terrible.

Yes. Political Commentators have a responsibility to check their facts to a reasonable degree, the same as any newspaper editorial

As someone mentioned, Fox News is not legally allowed to call itself 'news' in Canada because it doesn't pass muster for fairness.

Are all news biased? To some degree, however that doesn't excuse a news program for being bad.

Do a search for 'Fox News Investigative Reporting.' Now do a search for 'CNN Investigative Reporting.' 'NBC Investigative Reporting.' 'ABC Investigative Reporting.'

When a news network does not HAVE an investigative reporting division, they are bad. There's no news to be found there. Nothing of value. Move along, because they're only going to report what real journalists are looking into.

The existance of bias does not excuse a lack of journalistic integrity, a lack of journalistic investigation, a lack of deep reporting that you DO get on things like the BBC, canadian news outlet, and pretty much anywhere that actually takes the world seriously.

They selll opinions. They package them, give them a fancy name like 'doctor' or 'expert', fill in the opinion themselves and just let it run.
I'm exaggerating the matter a bit, but you get the gyst of it, do you?
