I'm a couple of hours away from all of those places, so probably not. Still, who knows (^^)

I was just lurking along the topics and read York and was pretty suprised it was considered. I come from there and though it's sort of well liked I agree that there's not that much to do.. unless you like museums or drink ale. I can point some places out if you do decide to go but depending on times and numbers it might be hard for you all to be at the same place.

I probably wouldn't come though as I'm not very social =P

Seeing as how I'm flying in from America, and landing in and flying out of Manchester, that's my vote. I'm heading out Sunday and would rather spend Saturday night with the group instead of taking a train/bus/whatever back to the airport.

Not sure, I might come. I'll have to check when my University term finishes.

If you choose York that could be handy because that's where I go to Uni. And I can tell you where you can go out and stuff.

Yeah (hope no one's answered this, but ah well >_>)

Basically paintball, shopping, sightseeing (like castles etc.) Most of the stuff is listed in the User Group =P

Wow, this thread dropped fast. What's it doing on page 3 already?

Anyhoo, not just bumping...

I've been to a few of the museums mentioned for Manchester, 'the Imperial War Museum' is (was? I'm talking 2006 here) really nice both as a museum and a building (Architecture class trip), I had expected more from 'the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry', it's not bad and quite large but I had expected more from one of the cities that started the industrial revolution :s

We only went to a display in the free part of the 'Urbis', that actually realted to why we were in Manchester in the first place. Again the building is pretty cool (if you're into that kind of stuff) but I haven't seen the actual museum part.

One more that might be interesting was (I believe) the Manchester Tate gallery, which, back then, had quite a lot of "old" art as opposed to modern art which I just don't get.

I'm trying to remember anything else we did on that trip, but besides walk around, take busses, have drinks and eat curry I'm drawing a blank...

Since it wasn't on the list last year I decided to check Cornwall for ease of getting to for us foreign types and it's doable but not much fun...

A five hour train ride from Bristol :( and damn your rail prices are insane in Englandland

I vote Manchester! I won't go to London for love nor money! I have lived in Manchester all my life and have worked in the pub club scene as a promoter and D.J. for about 15 years! So if you need some help I will happily assist!

On the other hand York is a nice city and I go whenever I have a spare day, it's full of history and some great pubs and places to eat as well!

I really REALLY wanna go! I'm 16 so my parents say I can go places now... although I doubt they'd approve of me travelling to London by myslef, or somewhere in the south-east :(. I live in Blackpool in the North-west and if its held in the south I don;t suppose any other people from the north could arrange meeting in Manchester or something?
well there's multiple people from Manchester who went down in a group last year, me included. I'm absolutely coming again this year last year was a great laugh, and I also defiantly want another t-shirt :3 and this time I want the right size xD. but yeah a manchester meet isn't too hard to arrange just pm me closer to the time if your actually coming :D, Also I've voted for manchester for ease of access and the bungee jumping WEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
Well thats awesome because you can count me in! I'll add you as a friend and talk about it when it gets to July. Thanks!

You know I live in Bristol right? I could always wait for you to arrive there and we take the train down together.

Depends on times though, I plan to be the first one there so I can help gather everyone together and work out where to go.
I kinda sorta knew that...

It's still a ways of anyway, I'll start planning closer to the actual date. Though me getting there early seems unlikely since my plane wouldn't land until 9 or 10 AM and the there's the 5 hour train ride... though I might just rent a car instead...

Also, to anyone else finding a UK Escapism ironic. Lurk moar, you will then realize this is the third year we have done this, the Australians have done this too and the Escapist is an international community, not just an American one, we even have had people from the US attend before.
Ironically, has there been a US Escapism? I know there's been meet ups at PAX etc. but has there actually been a proper US meetup?
