Eh, media coverage of missing persons is a joke. The punchline being thousands of girls go missing every day but because they aren't american, upper-middle class (or higher), attractive, and white they get zero media attention.

The only reason to seek help from the internet in this case would be the assumption shes been taken by someone with a digital camera, broadband, windows movie maker, and encrypted usenet access.

And say what you want about me, im in ur thread, provoking ur discusses.

But you think that because the media is so biased in it's coverage that the people who go missing are not important? And that making jokes is appropriate when someone who is obviously feeling a lot of pain asks for your help. And you aren't provoking discussion, you're trolling. You're a waste of oxygen.

In times like these people show their true faces, and unfortunately, some people seem to take this too lightly.

I know all too well the feeling of a loved one going missing, and it's the worst feeling on earth. At least with death there's closure.

If one doesn't care about the thousands of girls who go missing with zero media attention, why would one care about the one out of thousands who just so happens to be attractive, white, american, and upper middle class?

You can dismiss me as a troll if you want, but mocking the insanity of the american media is the only sane thing to do. Remember, just because something is distasteful, doesn't mean its trolling.

This is all moot anyway. They've arrested a random minority with a history. The family will have "justice" so long as he can't provide an air-tight alibi.

I'm not saying I don't care about the people who have no media attention, I am criticizing you for thinking that because one happens to that she is irrelevant. And for thinking that an issue like this is the appropriate place to talk about your frankly stupid view about the western media.

If not in reaction to the western media exploiting the disappearance of a young (wealthy-white-attractive) girl for monetary gain, then when?

I guess we could mock the western media when a poor/minority vanishes, but then we'd never shut up and only expand the general apathy towards anyone that isn't wealthy and white.

I mean, if a young attractive Hispanic girl vanished after parking her... uh... vanished while walking to/from the grocery store, people would just assume she ran away. Then if she turned up dead, "one less spic on welfare," or something equally horrible.

Try creating a completely different thread to put your view foward in, do not make light of a horrible situation in which people are sufferring. And I'm sure the family of the missing girl is grateful for the media's attention, even if it is biased.
And on the topic of the media exploiting the disappearance, what did you expect? The media is out to make money and will do that by whatever means they deem nescesscary. Even if the reason they do publicise the missing girl is to make a capital gain it still helps the case.
Please find a more appropriate outlet for your anti-western media views, this is not it.
