I do not understand the meaning of your phrase. Do you say this because my comment makes it seem like I have not been to many forums? Are you saying you agree with my statement? Or are you taking a jab at my personal communication skills?
None of the above, don't get so defensive. I'm taking a jab at the fact you claimed this forum is "concentrate smart/philosophical people", when compared to the vast majority of forums, this place is seen as the opposite.
I wasn't defensive I was just listing reasons for your statement. I have been to many forums. there are actually a few variables inovolved in that possibility of a good community forum.
The theme and subject helps people arrive to the site. And stay there or come back depending on just how many subjects are covered or how many reports or stories are delivered to the website. For the escapist the subject is video games and many topics and articles cover just about every thought one could have about the subject. This brings a large group of people here and for the variety in the subjects it bring disucssion that can have a tendency to be creative and smart.
The order of the place must be maintained by mods and admins who are both diligent. Swift. Merciless. But not corrupt. Now personally I have no reason to believe the escapist has corrupt mods and admins but if so they hide it doesn't hurt the bottom line of keeping wasteful comments, trolls, and raids from hurting the forum in any significant way also the fact that high commenters can be banned as quick as the guy who posted first one too many times shows integrity that I consider very good.
And lastly there is brand. When a forum can say they are the offcial forum to the subject and theme this means that people who like the subject enough to hunt it down will enjoy the place.
I've been to forums and i've made forums. It's easy to assume we haven't been to the same forums but to the ones I have been too trust me this is a good forum filled with very smart people. Or don't trust me. It really doesn't matter.
