Sony is a business. Businesses operate to make money. Providing free PS3 gaming streaming would cost them money for no return, other than the gratitude of their customers. Sure, businesses offer some good will every now and then to keep the customers happy, but this would be a stupid move for them. When Sony gave away free games during the PS3 outages... that didn't COST them anything, it just eliminated potential profits. Giving away free games on Gakai to the people who already own them WILL COST them something, as they have to run the servers to stream the games that they are not making profit on. Sure, its sad, but you have to look at it from a economic perspective. I don't like it, but at least it's something.

The first is really very minor and barely has any bearing on backwards compatibility on the PS4, but there has been a tradition of backwards compatibility with both Sony and MS.
Maybe Sony, but I don't see how Xbox's second console having backwards compatibility with its first console counts as "tradition" lol. Unless you count Windows. :p

Oh boy, I am not a happy camper with the idea of "Streaming" older games.

-I do not have an unlimited internet package, therefore I'd be really concerned about going over my download cap.

Im actually happy that sony will be streaming the legacy playstation games via gaikai because now I don't have to worry bout the discs getting scratched or cracked and not being able to play them.

The difference between microsofts backwards compatibility and sony's is that microsoft will only use a small list of legacy games vs. sony will have access to all of the legacy games I think.
