Are you a graphic designer by trade or through hobby? If the latter I must implore you consider the former.

I do a bit on the side, though I am currently studying architecture at university. I doubt I'll keep on doing architecture though and I'll probably look into something graphic designy post uni.

Couldn't you use your architecture degree for graphic/environment design for video games?
Just hypothesising.

Isn't architecture a four year course?

I could use it for nearly any part of the design industry apparently (the main reason I picked it) but what happens happens end of the day. Also it's a 3 year course in this country for a degree and then a further 2 years in industry and 2 years back in uni if I want a masters which I am uncertain if I want to do at the moment.
