Escapist Video Loading Bar Wonky-ness

So finals just ended for me and I finally have time to do entertaining things, like watch videos here. I go to catch up on a few of the series, click the giant "Play" arrow in the middle of the video screen, wait a second for the loading bar to show progress, then click play. Then the aforementioned wonky-ness (wonkiness?) begins. The bar moves backwards! It unloads part of the video. Or does it?

Turns out it still has buffered through, but not as far as it showed it did. Still, it goes past where it says it has loaded to now. This confuses me.

My question is has this happened to anyone else? Not necessarily here, but at any video site. Any ideas on why it might be happening?

Happens now and then. Just a slight buffering problem but shit happens when you show videos over the internet.

I think it's wonkiness. As for your actual problem, I've never experienced it. I assume you've done all the close-your-browser jiggery-pokery that I suggest in an attempt to look like I know what I'm talking about?

Are you having problems playing the video?

If not, don't worry about it. It's just how the player handles video stream buffering.

mine shows that it's stopped buffering randomly, but it actually hasn't. It's not a big problem, but I did waste a bit of bandwidth to figure out wtf was going on.

I think the video player might be possessed either that or its just a bug

It does that to me or it doesn't even show the bar either way it's always loaded enought that it never pauses to load more

okay, OP, I've had an even stranger issue than you have. I was watching a vid, and everything was going smoothly, until I realized that the progress bar was actually ahead of the loading bar. It was playing a video that hadn't loaded yet. The loading bar was moving slowly and it was trying to catch up with the video. The video ended when the progress bar reached the end (like a normal video), but then the loading bar hit the end after that.

Its happened quite a few times, RvB, YouTube, Escapist, TGWTG, AVGN.

I tend to not think about it anymore.

The loading bar on Escapist videos has indeed been screwy for over a month. It doesn't prebuffer like it used to.
