Escapists and limited/special/collector's edition games

Ah yes. The editions of games that cost that bit extra, but feature extra stuff we probably wont ever use and/or a nicer looking case. (and sometimes something we actually will use =P)

How many of you bother with these often, and if so how many?

In my case I just have 3. Resident Evil 4 for PS2 steelbook edition, Bioshock steelbook edition (360), and Windwaker Limited Edition (Ocarina of Time Master Quest ftw).

I did a while ago for some game. I got a fancy art book. So fancy....

I find Special Editions mostly worthless.

Dawn of War collectors edition and Battle for Middle Earth 2. Came with art books and stuff.

I like concept art, so it did have some value to me. BFME was only because I couldn't get the normal one because they'd run out.

I've never got one.

I don't see the point in it unless it has something really cool in it.

I've yet to see one with anything worth an extra 40 dollars.

I wish i had waited for game of the year for all bethseda games just so i can get add-ons for free.

I have the Devil May cry 3 special edition, Ninja Gaiden sigma, and civilization 3 which was more then worth it. Finaly fantasy 12 i think(maybe) got a strategy guide and an art book.

I have Batman: AA the special edition because i thought i would get a metal batarang. STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID. Other than that i don't really get the special editions. I'll preorder something if there's a cool action figure involved because i like collecting them and having them look awesome adoring my shelf of figures

I've bought a few of them before, but I can't remember all of them. Resident Evil 5, Digital Devil Saga 2, Fallout 3, Bayonetta Climax Edition without the model gun because I forgot to pre-order, Far Cry 2 and Bioshock in the steelbook.

I generally buy Special Editions when I can just for all the extra stuff that comes with them as long as they're not a rip off. If a game just has a tiny artbook and they're trying to charge $10-20 more is where I draw the line.

I won't rattle off all the stuff that comes in it, as I'm sure you can look it up, but it includes both the Bioshock 1 & 2 soundtracks, which are awesome. Also, the Bioshock 1 soundtrack comes on LP album ^_^

Let's see: Half Life 2 Collector's Edition, S.T.A.L.K.E.R Collector's Edition, World in Conflict Collector's and Warhammer Online Collector's.

Never regretted buying any of them.

I find myself getting the SE of the more recent games (the exception being the PS remakes of Lunar 1 and 2, which only came in awesome SE packages for the price of a regular PS game).
I've picked up CE's for Batman Arkham Asylum, GTA4, Fallout 3, BioShock and Mass Effect 2. They may be worthless, but I do manage to get some enjoyment out of them.
