So, having just spent £800 on a new computer, I want to play everything on it, but thats where the dilemma strikes. Most of my friends who I regularly hang out with, go drinking with etc, all play Xbox, and it just so happens to be that all but one guy out of our 'group' don't have gaming PC's. Now I'm pretty sure we all know about these damn exciting releases coming out soon.

Battlefield 3
Modern Warfare 3
Deus Ex
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

You see I don't have that many friends who play on PC, but I really want BF3 on PC, I want to see the Frostbite 2 engine in all it's glory. As for Skyrim I'm not too sure, but with all the mods out for Oblivion, I don't want to miss out on mods for Skyrim, and of course it will look better. Deus Ex, meh, I really don't know about that one. Modern Warfare 3, I'm nearing towards console for that one, who gives a monkeys about graphics for that anyway.. it's the same engine from years ago right? :p

I guess what I'm asking myself is should I sacrifice friend filled fun for better graphics and gameplay?

Hmmm, maybe. My question to you Escapists is, considering my situation which platform would you get these games on?

PC for the games you mentioned and a console for MW3. MW3 is mainly a console centered game anyways, whereas the other games tend to focus more on the PC crowd.

Yeah I thought so. Do you know if BF3 will be a port from PC to console? Or the other way around?

get the games twice? PC community and console community are two different things (not that different, but different enough). if your friend are on 360, don't cut yourself out of the circle that easily, but also enjoy your much more awesome version. Just don't rub it in their faces. no one like to be that person.

But that means spending another £40 to get to play with more friends....?

BF3 is a port from PC to console. That's part of the reason why it's being hailed so much. It'll support 64 players on PC and only 24 players on consoles so the full experience is definitely on PC.

Skyrim get for PC its all SP and mod and better graphics there no reason to get it for console really. MW3 i would console it won't be any diffierent on the PC and possibly won't have dedi servers again like MW2.

Personlly i would say get BF3 on PC not just for the graphics but the larger MP maps and 64 player limits for MP. If you spent 800 pounds on it might aswell use it, as you can get a good gaming computer for about half that.

So you must have some really good gear in the computer shame for it to go to waste for friendships ha

Short but definite and clear answer. Yes.
A bit longer. It kind of depends do you want to buy an xbox because your friends have them, or do you want to have an xbox so that you can play with your friends? If it's the former you should buy a pc in my opinion, if it's the later buy an xbox (just sell your pc). Playing with friends is a lot more fun then playing alone, fun needs to be shared.

Yeah it's a gaming PC :p

Cheers for the advice, from what I've gathered, this is ultimately what I was going to do... Just wanted some views from other peoples.

As someone mentioned above, you could always get any games that you really want on PC but also want to play with your friends on both platforms.

But yea, it will depend on your budget.

I would say BF3, since it seems you really want to play that game. BF3 is the only game on there I know for sure is developed for PC. I am not sure about Deus Ex (Deus Ex is probably the only game on that list I actually plan to purchase personally), and I know that Skyrim and MW3 are both ports from the 360.
