Yep. When I visited my brother there in May a few years ago, the flowers were out and the weather was wow. Fantastic. He said it's not that great in winter but... I like the cold anyway so :D

Plus if they send me stuff asking me to go there, why not...
Who doesn't love free stuff?

Not the biggest fan of winter, especially winters here, but I make do. I'm more of a spring/fall person. Not too hot, not too cold. Although I hate rain, which I blame on the fact that I played baseball nearly every summer until I graduated high school, because it cancelled games.

How long were you in Fort Wayne? I've lived there most of my life, aside from going to college.

I'm really surprised at the turn-out here. I used to think I was one of the only ones here!

Indianapolis, Indiana

Born and here now. Hell yeah East Coast Timezone!

Going to college in Bloomington next year.
I've got some family going to IU right now, the campus is really awesome, the whole town really. I've only been there a couple times but it has a really good vibe to it, a great college town.

I knew of several Escapists who lived in the Midwest USA, but not this much.

It doesn't even have to be that far south sadly. I go to school in Muncie and I have seen way too many Confederate flags on the back of pickup trucks for how far North we are. I mean, come on! Muncie wasn't even that close to the Mason-Dixon line

I used to live in Lebanon, Indiana for about 8 years. Its about 30 minutes north of Indianapolis. I currently live in Ohio, right on the lake.

Indianapolis, IN., here. I'm impressed, there are more people from Indiana than I would have guessed.

You wanna see a state that has few Escapists? Try Louisiana.
Haven't heard of another.
I've heard of a few people from Louisiana.

You'll probably find the least amount of Escapists from a state like North Dakota. I think everyone there died of boredom a few years back.

What about Alaska? For some reason I can easily imagine there being very few Escapists there.

From someone who only visits, I'd like to hear your opinion of my hometown. I'll offer my opinion on it later, but I like hearing from people who didn't grow up there.

Try Mississippi. Although I have seen one other person from Mississippi here, which really surprised me.

I used to live in Vincennes, in Knox County, just on the Wabash River and the border with Illinois. I now live in Oregon and I don't think I've come across and Oregonian Escapist yet.

To be honest, we don't really take in the city at all. We just stick to the motorway. He lives about a mile from one of the exits, so I haven't driven through Fort Wayne's actual city area since I was really young (I've lived in both Northern, Southern, and Central Indiana at different times in my life, so I've lived near Fort Wayne, I just can't really remember that time very well). However, I always try to get gas there, because its always cheaper in Fort Wayne than it is here in Ohio. So I like that!

I have heard him complain about how the restaurant district isn't very well organized. Like, half of the places are in one direction, and half are the other. And that his commute to work is flat and boring.

Well driving through the downtown area at least would be over in about 2 minutes. It's just not very big. There are some fun things to see there, like the baseball field and some nice local restaurants, but other than that I'm rarely ever in downtown.

And I can definitely agree with your brother on the restaurant issue. Really close to downtown there isn't a whole lot of places to eat. Most of them exist on the outskirts, either out West or North, at least in my experience.

Probably the biggest thing that I dislike about Fort Wayne is the lack of things to do before you turn 21. There are things to do, but they are limited and get old pretty quick. Most of the really good concerts end up in a club somewhere and are only 21+.

Overall all though it's still a nice place and there are some definitely fun things to do, if you can find them. Which is sometimes half the fun.
