I have one more to add, thank you for smoking, that is Aaron Eckheart's greatest role ever, and possibly one of the most funny movies about the power of speech.

The list has been taken down for a major league over haul... I'm going to composite from the list a set of twenty, and we can then all argue about what's on that...

Nobodys really mentioned much world cinema in this list, so I'd like to add:

Amelie
Run Lola Run/Lola Rennt
Oldboy
I'm A Cyborg
The Devil's Backbone
Night Watch/Nochnoi Dozor

Also, as an aside, the one film I'm constantly shocked by people saying they've never watched it is the Muppet Christmas Carol - seriously, I thought everyone had seen it!

Ah, the radio and even the TV shows count but the only good thing about the film is Stephen Fry as the book imho.

Did you know he's done an audio book for the first one?

Sitting right next to me, along with both scripts and the game. :)

Seven Samurai (if you don't know about this movie...)
Drunken Master (Legend, old one, I don't care)
Journey to the West (There are several good movie versions of the book, check them out)
Army of Darkness
Versus (so campy it's awesome)
Equilibrium (Gun-fu!)
Gattaca (awesome)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Anyone who is even remotely a fan of Rock n' Roll has to watch This Is Spinal Tap.
The movie is one of the most hilarious things I have seen, and the documentary style can fool people into thinking that Spinal Tap is a real band, if they didn't do much research beforehand.
They play some pretty sweet songs, (Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight for the WIN)and it does the whole 'Rise and fall thing' pretty well. The ending is... Sort of confusing for me, but it made me feel pretty happy on the inside.
Go and watch it now, it is AWESOME.

EDIT: Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are also must-see movies. Hilarious, well done, and... Hilariously hilarious.
