It's been over a decade since I've even looked at a bicycle, but even I could immediately see that there's something different about your machine. Are those...disc brakes? You've got a single grip shift for something, but I don't understand, because it's a single, a fixie? And are those bladed spokes on aero rims? Your commuter bike has aero rims? I don't even know what brand that is, but the frame looks aluminum. Did you set that up yourself?
Man, it's been too long since I've ridden. Used to be able to ride from my apartment to Walden Pond, a 40-mile round trip. Those were the days.
Yes they are, 8 internal gears (the cold is getting at it, first 3 gears can't be engaged at this temperatur), the grip shift is for the gears yeah. Nah I bought it assembled like that, just run of the mill decent quality bike really, and honestly I don't know if it's aluminium sorry to say, looks like it under the paint job. If I remember correctly it's about 6 years now, last two were stolen.
2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trak. It's not the best looking nor does it get good mileage but I like it.Generic google image but mine's the same but slightly different wheels
I only have my feet and my bike right now, because this city is littered with toll roads. But I've had a car ever since a week before I turned 18(legal driving age in Norway), and this is the one I liked the most, my first one:
Only mine was lowered and had nicer rims.
Although of all the vehicles I've had I miss my army truck the most.
Hello Escapists, Val here today. I find myself in a better-than average mood as of late since I got a new vehicle today! It is one of these:
2000 Chevy Blazer. Fantastic vehicle, and when it's done with the tune-up and customizations it will be even better. So Escapists, I've got a question for you people: What do you use to get around, if anything? Do you use a normal sedan or SUV? Or do you use an Imperial AT-AT Walker or a TARDIS? Post what you use to get from point A to B and beyond!
My last car (that was actually all mine) was the coupe version, absolute joy to drive. I had to get rid of it as I was made unemployed and couldn't afford to keep it ;_;
Not a picture of mine exactly (don't have one without me in it, and no I'm not posting a pic of myself), but this is the car, color and everything.
2012 Nissan Altima Sedan (sadly the coupe was about $5,000 more). Nice car, all around. Decent Gas mileage (32mpg in the summer, 27-28 in the winter), and it's extremely comfortable. Lots of leg room pretty much everywhere, which is good because I have an hour long commute to work every day.
Not mine, but I drive around in this type. Will be mine after I've gotten my drivers license.
It's really smooth to drive, but it's way too small for a tall guy like me. Getting crushed behind the wheel in spite of having the chair back as far as it can go. The model is probably 13 years old now, though I wouldn't want to have an expensive car as my first.

Yeah, it's fun to drive but it's an auto so the gear changes feel a bit slow. It's definitely gotten me hooked on BMWs though, hopefully I can eventually get a decent M3
2011 Honda Fit, base model, automatic, gunmetal gray. I love this vehicle! The one in the photo seems to have extra trim at the bottom, mine doesn't. Still, mine is new enough to look this good:
It's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. I don't know how they did it, but it's true. When you're driving, parking, and buying gas, it feels like a compact. When you need to haul cargo, it acts like a minivan. It's got more space than some giant gas-guzzling SUVs. The rear seats fold down completely flat. How many small vehicles do you know that can hold a washing machine, roadside kit, two weeks of groceries, and fifty pounds of books in the back, with room left over for a couple of folding chairs -- all with the hatch shut?
The engine is so quiet you almost can't tell it's running. It's got extra cupholders right where I like them. Stereo is part of the dash so there's nothing to steal (had my previous vehicle's stereo stolen twice, and I live in a low crime area). Huge field of view with all that glass, its blind spot is only about 4" wide and located where you almost never need to look anyway. I can sit comfortably despite being quite tall, something small cars generally don't allow -- I am more comfortable in my Fit than I am in my brother-in-law's luxury car! The list goes on. At every turn I am impressed with the engineering.
I could wish that it had a TAD more power -- there are some steep hills where I live -- but it hasn't failed to go anywhere yet.
TL;DR - When this baby wears out I'm getting another one just like it.
2010 Nissan Versa SL Hatchback in silver. (Picture is not mine.)
Not a bad car by any stretch. I have the CVT engine or whatever it is, but I think I get about 600kms city driving on a tank. I travel about 120k/week and am down half a tank every couple weeks. In the winter it's quite a bit less and in the summer more, I think. SO I guess about 600k/city on a tank. I hardly ever go below half a tank though, and when I do the guage goes down a lot more quickly.
I love hatchbacks, they're so versatile and, honestly, easier to drive and par with. The back window is the back of the car, no guessing how far back the rear end of the car goes.
My radio also tells me what song is playing and the artist. However, the only 'usb' type port is an iPod/Iphone dock, so that's annoying. And no hands free phone stuff, which my sister's Kia Rio5 has.
Da, for some reason I just really like SUVs. Family has had 3 Suburbans, a K5 Blazer, a pair of Jeeps, and a Subaru Forester, so that might have something to do with it. We only have one of the Suburbans and the Forester now, because my parents either don't know how to take care of their shit or sold them off. After that happened we tried the compact city car route since my brother and I were fairly active and needed to get to our jobs. Those things did not last long. Numerous mechanical failures happened that eventually led to some pretty bad accidents. In response to that, as well as the new demands of my life, I got my Blazer. Eventually I want to get one of these:
Chrysler Aspen. I'd get the Hybrid version too: 22MPG in a giant-ass behemoth like that, and since I've had experience driving that class of vehicle, I already know how to park it responsibly. Unlike some people I know of in my area.
A friend of mine recently had the Pontiac version of that, the Bonneville. Unfortunately he lost it on the way to an anime convention when his engine literally exploded. Like, Hollywood gas-fireball explosion that threw the hood open. So the moral of the story is that you should really get that engine a major tune-up if you're hearing a mis-timed cylinder, or you'll be without eyebrows and a car for a while. Decent car while it lasted though.
