Sorry about your loss, bro.

Looks like it's time to move on to bigger and better things.

*cough*PS3orPCmaster-race,takeyourpick*cough*

OT: My N64 still works perfectly. Can't say the same for the cartridges, though. And I have had it since I was three so it's been in my possession for, oh... 13 years?

I just wish my PS2 didn't bite the dust in '05. I had to get the slimmer one, rendering all of my PS1 discs useless.

Hmm... the oldest piece of tech I've owned...

Well, you know those big, ugly brick gameboys? Basically one of the first gameboys ever made? I had one of those for 15 years. I got some nostalgia feelings to play it one day, so I dug it out of my draw and went to turn it on...
and it didn't turn on. Seems I accientally left the batteries in it, which after a few years of not being payed attention to decided to leak battery acid into the gameboy's surprisingly delicate hardware, completely corroding all of it's electronics and rendering it unplayable. I felt bad man - that thing had seen a lot of punishment in it's time, so seeing it die because of my forgetfulness just... cut me deep.

Thankfully Gameboy Advances can play old-school Gameboy games, but it's just... not the same. The magic's gone, and ain't no way it's ever coming back.
\

Well if there is ever a Gameboy uprising we will now know there weakness. The only problem would be cracking the Nintendium shell to administer the acid.

The oldest I have is a genesis but the longest I've ever owned is a purple Gameboy color. I just wish my mom had bought that scratch remover for it. I had the thing since 1998 and she claimed that I didn't own one.

*removes hat* My condolences. Sorry for your loss. *replaces hat*

I had a hard drive give out on me, once. Lost all that data. I wasn't even mad, I was just overcome with sadness. But a tiny, rare manufacturing defect ended our fling, though, depressed at the loss of her brother, a new hard drive came to me for comfort, and that night we shared data. I've had her ever since.

A moment for the departed, and a look towards a better future.

Oh, right, discussion value. Oldest piece of tech I own is my SNES, and it still works. Would have been some old computers, but I recently cleaned them out, snagged some pieces for my own use, and recycled the rest.

There there. I'm going to get you a hot beverage. I'm afraid it's not optional. Now that I got the Big Bang Theory references out of the way...

My first Xbox 360 (which didn't have a name) lasted about the same amount of time. We're a couple of the lucky ones.

I still have my Super Nintendo that I got the Christmas of... 98, when I was a wee lad of 6 years of age.

I'm probably showing my nerd-embryo status in embarrassing fashion here, but what is a Spectrum?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZX_Spectrum

It was one of the first home PC's sort of.

I have a ZX Spectrum +2, had it since 1988. It ran games on cassette.

I don't know if you have ever tried running a game from a cassette that has 2 games on one side and 2 on the other but it isn't bloody easy.

I had so much fun on that machine as a kid but also so much rage.

My X360 still seems to be working fine after 2-3 years so far, My PS2 works as well as the day I got it 8 years ago, and my PS1 is still working after 13ish years. I'm amazed how long some of the older generation consoles can last compared to the newer ones, I have a few friends who have fully functioning N64 and cartridges lying around.

I still have working Nintendo consoles... all of them. 8-bit, Super, 64, GC, and Wii... all working normally. I have a graveyard full of bricked X-boxes, 360's, PS 1's 2's and 3's; but I've only ever needed 1 of each Nintendo product. Microsoft and Sony have crappy (if sometimes a little faster) hardware that will just barely outlast a warranty. Nintendo products seem to last forever. I can't throw rocks at Sega though, I only ever had a Dreamcast of theirs... and it still works too.

This isn't exactly my longest lasting piece of tech, but I bought one of those LG Chocolate phones at launch, and the damn thing still works. I don't use it anymore, I traded up to an Android smartphone, but my dad uses it now, after his last phone crapped out on him after only 2 months of use.

So yeah, I have a cellphone that's been working for 6 years without a single problem or defect. I'd say that's pretty damn impressive in this day and age.
Ok, I have to take my hat off to this one. My brother had an LG Chocolate and it was possible the most fragile, unreliable phone I've ever seen. A lot of friends had them too, and the longest any one model lasted was around 3 months. So how yours is still working after what must be at least 3 years now (I can't remember exactly when it came out) I don't even know.

Probably my NES. Thing is older than I am. I wish consoles were built to last like the old days :(

The oldest piece of tech I own is my pocket transistor radio from 1964. I got it in the early 2000s, though, so the piece of tech I've owned the longest is probably my Game Gear. I got that back in 1993 and it still works on occasion. Usually the display is messed up, though.

I'm with you there. My original Xbox only lasted for about 3 or 5 months before crapping out on us. Plus, I never liked the Xbox controllers anyway. My PS2 is still going strong...though I only have one controller and there's a hole in it.

Plus, my brother either sold our games to Gamestop or threw them into the woods.

Fucking bastard.

I still have a working Megadrive at my parents house. (At least I hope so).

When I moved to my boyfriends house I left my Xbox cause he already had one, so I just used his. I fully intended to get mine back at some point, until my mum rang and said my brother had accidentally snapped the disc tray out. I told her it was fine because it was still under warranty. She told me she had already chucked it out.

I dont even remember my old gamertag, just that I had many more points than I do on my new one on the shared Xbox with the boyfriend. =(
