So a buddy gets into a drunken brawl outside the bar when we were leaving because an idiot says some ethnic slur/stupid comment and got into my friends face. My bud gets a couple good whacks in and the offender goes down and cracks his skull on pavement.

Cops and ambulence summoned, bud taken into custody, I was questioned. I have to tell our version to give my bud justification. The instigator was in trouble before he even started the fight as he had been booted out of the bar we were at. I don't expect a felony charge on my bud and surprisingly enough the DA agrees with a misdy charge and suspended sentence.

My friend got off for two reasons. We were forth coming and honest and we summoned assistance when the guy was injured. It probably would have gone down differnetly if my friend was the instigator, but that is someone elses problem.

Depends, if it was the "friend" who broke my iPod last year hell I'd say he also robbed 3 orphanages on the way to the assault, but if it was a good friend... well... thats a tough call.

I cast my vote with the people who say "depends on who it is..."

But...I would take issue with my friend though behind closed doors.

I have been in this situation, a friend of mine beat the piss out of some dude. I didn't get hauled down to the station, but i was questioned on who started it and how it ensued. I lied my ass off and after he asked me to repeat what I said I refused, a cop can say he will charge you for not cooperating, but that is bullshit. You cannot be forced to testify unless subpoenaed in court. Also I was stonking drunk at the time as well.

For assault? Fuck yeah. I'd do it, and do it gladly. Fuck my friend he can't learn basic rules of living in a civillized society. You just can't go around treating people like shit and then expect the best from whomever.

Can't say...if the other person was arguing with them, then no. But if it was a poor defenseless old woman I'd rat his ass out faster than a fat kid eating cake.

Probably wouldn't squeal. As a misanthrope I hate most people, definitely people I haven't met. I'd actually probably correct my friend on the execution of the violence.

What?! That's not how you cause bodily harm you have to work for their pain!

For me it depends not on the severity of the crime, but whether he was justified.

If I didn't think he was justified, I'd rat him out for jaywalking.

If it was a close friend and his first offence? Fuck no, I wouldn't tell them shit.

My friends have been with me practically my whole life, family and friends come first. I'd give him a smack and some harsh words though.

I'd report them, it's really the best thing to do. If I didn't report at first the guilt would eventually get to me and I'd do it.
