Without mentioning spoilers, does it go crazier than EoE?

I'm looking forward to watching this, not just because it's another RoE film but because of the ineivtably kickass OST it's going to have.
Yes, yes it does.

Incidentally...
How the HELL does this work? Surely it's not time travel, because there are far better things to use that technology on.
Explaining it is like............ i don't even know how to explain it in a way that would make sense without watching the movie beforehand.

What makes it even worse is
Is that there's a part where you see a picture of Yui, Shinji's mom, taken a long time ago, and like, you can supposedly see someone who looks like Mari in the background

All I will say is the AAA Wunder, its so batshit weird.

If you want to know what it is
its a flying battleship powered by EVA unit 1 that can also make other ships fly

It also has GIANT ass canons on it, and part of it is made out of a dead angel, and it is captained by Misato.

Here is a pic of it

Wow, that wasn't very smart of me. By quoting you, I almost read the spoiler. Hell, I'm typing right now without looking at the screen >.>. Anyway, I'll pass.

I am still in shock from how this movie turned out.
Usually I would be disappointed, but what the hell, this is Eva.
After the 2nd new movie which was so optimistic, it had to go evil like this.
I just think, i am sooo lucky to have been able to experience the Salior Moon, Evangelion, Madoka Magica, Suzumiya Haruhi trends.

Also, I am happy to know that Misato and Ritsuko are still older than me.
I hate it when you grow old and your favourite characters become younger than you.
...

Damn it. Just realised I'm older than Misato and Ritsuko now. *sigh* Now I'll never be a mecha pilot :(

Actually, I was fairly ignorant of this new Eva reboot. I've been out of the anime loop for a while now... a year of 'high school girls doing whacky things' kind of killed my interest.

Looking at the artwork though... I think I might have to retract my belief of Eva being a satire of big mecha anime. I used to like how it made the whole genre look silly (like at the very beginning of the series, when Shinji is asked to pilot the Eva, and he just outright says 'No, are you crazy?!'). It's looking pretty goofy right now.

As for the info in the spoilers... think I might have written a fanfic like that o_O

I loved the movie simply for the fact that is was so utterly different from anything Evangelion has done before. The Shinji/Kaworu scenes were genuinely nice and their relationship felt more real: a nice side effect of not being offed twenty minutes after you're introduced. The animation was fantastic and Asuka looks impossibly badass with an eye patch.

However...
It's amazing nobody is called out on the fact that they're being jackasses towards the kid who saved their asses, what, seven times? And that if he hadn't done what he did, ALL of humankind would've been fucked because of Zeruel? Most of humankind being fucked is better than ALL of it. It doesn't help that we, the audience, know he wasn't even in control of his Eva once it started busting open the S2 Engine and that up until it did Misato was CHEERING HIM ON.

The problem here is that literally the whole movie hinges on Shinji being told jack shit by anyone of importance, barring Kaworu. Seriously, everyone except those two were one dimensional passive aggressive assholes towards Shinji. Misato treats him like dogshit and has a BOMB COLLAR put on the kid. With no explanation. It's as if she's some weird parallel universe Misato who never met Shinji and doesn't know that the kid would've gone along with everything if she'd simply explained the situation.

Hell, even the reviewers on Kotaku pointed this out:

"Characters lose all common sense so the plot/drama can be railroaded in. If the logical conversation had happened in this film, the movie would be 15 minutes long:

Misato: Shinji, you've been trapped in the Eva for 14 years. Your dad is insane and trying to end the world. We're trying to stop him.
Shinji: What about Rei? Where is she?
Misato: She's dead, Shinji. You were there.
Shinji: No, I saved her. She was in the plug with me!
Misato: You were the only one in there when we got you out. But if she's in there, Shinji, we'll do everything we can to get her out, too. ...But there's one thing you should know. Your father cloned Rei and is using her against us.
Shinji: That bastard! What can I do to help?
Misato: The problem is, Shinji, that the last time you were in the Eva, you started the Third Impact. We don't know what will happen if you get in it again. So we need you to sit this one out for a while until we know more."

So yeah, I love the movie's premise and all, but the characters have become so pants on head retarded it's hard to not roll my eyes. Also, who the hell in Misato's group thought it was a good use of resources to build a giant Eva battleship that requires an Eva to power it? Because their ass needs to be fired.

ok so is this a new series again?
Yes and no.
Mostly yes.

Basically it starts out as a retelling of the series. Then the second film comes out and things get weird. Evidently in the third film, Jesus Christ bananas.

The two things I gathered from this conversation, thus far:

Evangelion still makes no damn sense.

NGE: Nobody Dies is better.

Eh, even Gregg thinks that Nobody Dies was a piece of crap and I'm inclined to agree. It's fun at first, but it got old pretty quick for me, although the rewrite might end up being better. I prefer Aeon Entelechy Evangelion. Or Shinji and Warhammer40K.

But hey, to each their own.

Yeah so, Eva 3 came out in Japan, and people have posted spoilers online

BE FORWARNED

SEELE throws Eva 01 into space, with a tang'd Shinji and Rei still inside
They stay up there for 14 years
Misato goes rogue, found her own organization to fix the world and recruits Asuka, Mari, and Touji's younger sister, Asuka and Mari not aging because LCL exposure halts the aging process
Mari is Shinji and Asuka's daughter from the future
They save Unit 01 from space, but Shinji and Rei decide to go back to NERV where Gendou is still in charge, also he has Kaworu.
Kaworu hits on Shinji while Rei disappears
Kaworu thinks he found out a way to fix the world with magic spears and Lillith, he and Shinji team up and even combine their Evas
Misato's organization knows better and sends forth Asuka to stop them
Kaworu and Shinji almost kill Asuka only to discover that SEELE tricked Kaworu and they really just started Instrumentality
Kaworu explodes himself to stop it, making Shinji all sad and reducing everything to a red wasteland
Asuka yanks Shinji out of his entry plug and holds his hand as they walk through the desert.
Also Rei is also in the desert with them somehow.

troll alert
Now I am sad for I had high hopes for this remake... I always imagined that the original series did happen and that the remake is like the world was reset and the only one who remembers everything is Kaworu and his goal is to end the cycle of the world being destroyed and reincarnated again and again like Ragnarok. Why I had this theory was for remnants of the past world in the bloody sea and other mentions of the destruction of the world in EOE. I am sad it did not go that way and went complete retard :(

Well, I will say, as far as I know, they never confirm that rebuild is a sequel, but from what I heard Rebuild has some more hints that it might be.

I didn't think I could loathe the character of Mari more than I already did...but you've proven me wrong. I'm glad Anno got his shit together and all, but I kinda liked him better when he was depressed. True art is angsty!

After having read some minor spoilers (I know what the Wunder is and some ultra-stupid sounding stuff about the characters) I still find it hard to believe it could be crazier than EoE. I mean that film is like an acid trip on a rollercoaster from start to finish. My mind just isn't up to the task.

From everything that i've read up on the film, it seems that...
The rumor that Mari is the time travelling daughter of Shinji and Asuka has either not been confirmed or is not true.

That sounds damn cool. I'm also getting a kick out of people shitting their pants because a remake changed things.
