Is there not a Blu-Ray/HD release of the original series? I'm looking at Amazon and only seeing DVD for the original show. Blu-Ray of the new movies though.
The closest, I believe, that you'll get to an HD release of the original Evangelion is to get the Platinum Edition DVDs that were released back in '05. They digitally remastered (visuals and audio) the entire series so that it's much better than the earlier dvds and videos.Austin Howe said:Is there not a Blu-Ray/HD release of the original series? What price can you get that for? I've enjoyed (is that really the word?) the series too much not to own it personally. And now that MegaVideo is down, it seems time to bite the bullet and actually support the franchise. (Though if I remember correctly, FUNimation is hosting it.)twistedmic said:The closest, I believe, that you'll get to an HD release of the original Evangelion is to get the Platinum Edition DVDs that were released back in '05. The collection will run you about Seventy US dollars brand new on Amazon.com. You can also get it a little bit cheaper (either used or new) from stores and sellers linked to/through amazon.Austin Howe said:What price can you get that for? It has since Episode 26.Piorn said:Does the ending of the series make sense yet?
Yeesh, that's $2.70 an episode. (If that's a ridiculous statement, yes, I am very, very cheap. I can't remember the last time I bought a new game at full price, unless you count paying the extremely reasonable price of $40 for UMvC3.)twistedmic said:The collection will run you about Seventy US dollars brand new on Amazon.com. But by buying the collection, you only pay $11 per disc for six discs rather than $15 to $30 per (new) disc for seven discs.Austin Howe said:Yeesh, that's $2.70 an episode. Eh, I could do worse. I just got a new job, I'll have the money for a new one soon enough.
I also got the Platinum, I just figured it was because they added extra stuff on the discs, like a collectors edition.Casual Shinji said:Seeing as the original series was good ol' cell animation, they'd have to put in a lot of work to make it shine in HD.
I got the Platinum Edition myself, so there's no need for them to rush on my account.
