Depends.

You can start having fun within a few days; if you join up with the right corp you can get a fast boost into PVP; and it's the kind of game where new players can fight capably (in the right roles) alongside veterans.

If that doesn't sound like your cup o' tea,... that's up to you.

it's already been said in different ways, but you cannot compare EVE to WoW in any way. the only similarity is that they are both played online and with a lot of other people. aside from that, EVE has an extremely libertarian rule system. basically, as long as you aren't hacking or RMTing, you can do whatever you want, as long as you can evade the in-game NPC police (forget what they were called, it's been a while) or your victims who may be out for revenge. no other game has that kind of laissez-faire TOS.

EVE is an awesome game, though, as already stated, the learning curve can be a bit steeper than most games.

There are enough games I don't have to pay a subscription for that EVE doesn't have enough draw. So much about it is designed to draw out time, and therefore your money. It takes literally years before you can PVP with any hope of winning - that's a hell of an investment of both time and money :/

Its range and scope are awesome, I would love to play, but it really is a time and money sink and I can't afford either.
