So i just read something interesting, apparently EVE online is going to become a TV series (and potentially comics, books and movies). And while that isn't something extraordinary in itself, CCP is asking players to tell their in-game stories to inspire the future series (books/comics/movies). I actually think the concept is quite interesting and in a certain way also a tribute to the players. The idea of telling true stories which happened to real people in a virtual world is kind of intriguing.

So yeah, what do you guys think? Good idea? Is this some kind of new non-fiction fiction genre?

I think it is an awesome initiative... They have to mention the Battle of Asakai...

However, they really need a good story to succeed in other forms of media.

have to say, with the tag line "based on a true story 20,000 years from now" is probably one of the b est things ive heard :p

also i agree the battle of asakai has to be included but for the pilot id rather see the fall off BoB

Eve has always struck me as a kind of virtual life simulator where you can befriend people, participate in a vibrant community and then betray hundreds of people all at once, cackling upon the mountain of ruin that were their joyful aspirations.

Rich veins for drama, no doubt, but it will only succeed if it is made on the cheap a la Babylon 5.

Great initiative!

I used to be an avid X-series player and EVE was always on my radar, the things I've been reading and seeing about it are absolutely fantastic, if I will ever play another MMO after Galaxies Pre-C.U. EVE WILL be IT!

Cheers for sharing!

Band of Brothers vs Goonswarm is already better than almost all films/comics/books ever written. This is definitely a fantastic idea, I just hope they get the right stories.

Is that the fight which cost players about 20,000 real-world dollars worth of ships? I heard about that...

If they don't use the Guiding Hand Social Club's legendary heist for inspiration for a few episodes, I'll be gravely disappointed.

I'm still mad at myself for missing the battle of asakai :(

What i hope they capture is the excentrism of capsuleers. Not only are we capsuleers throwing with money but also our own lives.

and don't forget because everyone has grrr Poinen Must Burn, the RvB event, hell you could make a story about the Battle og Ponyville, when RvB took down the almost 5 year old E-Uni pos

I'd love to see an arc about the NC vs. the DRF, and all the fun to be had valiantly fighting a losing war, but having many memorable small scale victories. Those times, running a mixed MM/Mostly Harmless recon group and doing hit and fades against Red Alliance/Pandemic/Evoke were some of the best fun I had in gaming.

The RMT protests were pretty fun too, seeing that many players in one place united was kind of awesome, and led to lots of fun all over the place (Jita/Luminaire/Amarr were all pretty fun that day, if you could even get in-system)
