Oh fuck that guy, there is not a single ounce of truth in that apology.
These guys are professional trolls/griefers, their sole reason for playing is to keep everyone miserable and their attitude has never stopped outside the game.

Damn, the bullies who ragged on you must have been total pussies if that worked.

Here's a home truth for you and any other who think like you; real bullies are not cowards, they are not idiots, and they don't back down when you get angry. That sort of person is the thuggish idiot the actual bullies manipulate into doing their bidding. You get angry and try fighting back against a serious bully, you'll be spending a year being driven home from school by a teacher, because there's people waiting to stab you outside. You'll be lying unconscious and bleeding. You won't drive them off, or expose them as cowards, or earn their respect, or any of the rest of the bullshit that the Man Up Brigade and soppy student councillors peddle.

I've seen people put in the fucking ground because they followed this sort of stupid advice.
Eh, depends on the nature of the bully and the thugs (as well as their numbers and how that stacks up to how many friends with no necks you have). If they find they bit off more then they can chew, they will back off.

What those limits are, or how far you might have to go to get them to back off, however...

Being stabbed hurts (I can attest to this), so feel free to play dirty yourself, as well.

...I am so glad I got out of space when I did.

Honestly, by now EVE Online begins to occupy the same sort of sphere football huligan firms have in my mind. A bunch of not-so reassuring individuals who are thankfully more concerned on beating up on each other on familiar ground and terms so the rest of us doesn't have to suffer (too much) from them.
It's a bit of a shame, since I really liked the core game and there's no other spaceship-MMO's that I know of, but I know myself, I'm not the right person for EVE Online, and neither is most people. At this point, I'm just glad there's a place where people can be sociopaths in peace (and away from me).

As for his excuse, it's not particularly convincing... At least he tried to be tactful and diplomatic, which is always something, but it still strikes me as a "I'm sorry that I was caught"-thing. At least no-one died, as depressing words they are, reguarding a videogame and everything.

I do hope that the victim got the hint and quit, EVE is not the right enviroment to be in if you're not feeling very stable. It's a shame about having to quit a game under those circumstances, but honestly, one's health should go before gaming, and a sociopath ruling a pretend-kingdom in a pretend-galaxy shouldn't be something that keeps you up at night.

Also, I hope EVE never shuts down, if it keep 'em away from games that I play myself.

At least he gave an honest apology and will likely step down (as it is the tasteful thing to do). Not really anything more he can do to rectify the situation short of helping out the guy he made fun of in some way.
No, it wasn't an honest apology. It was damage control. I used to play EVE. I was involved with the same group. I've spoken with the guy. He's one of the slickest and most intelligent people I've ever met. On the other side of the coin, however, he's also the biggest, most sadistic jerk I've ever met in my life. He reveled not in the misery of some poor space miner who lost his ship, but in the misery of another human being's life. I'd venture out on a limb and label him borderline sociopathic.

"Considering" it means he has no actual intention of stepping down and is trying to find a way to save his own status.

He took things outside of the game and tried to inflict harm upon another player in real life. CCP needs to ban this guy and all of his alt accounts.

To think I was actually considering reactivating my accounts... not anymore.

What do you think about the people who say he puts on an in-game personna? A lot of them aren't even people who have reason to like him. If 4-channers and goons are really like they act then that's a lot of people :(

I mean his last panel he was sobre, straight, factual and even a little boring, he doesn't seem to be the sort of person he was this time round

It just seems like, especially since everyone called him out for being boring last time he just decided to be completely different to that and went waaay to far. But making fun of the people you've griefed in game seems to be the norm for these, just this time he did the awful thing of actually giving away the guys name and encouraging more
