This is a simple question:

Have you every gotten into a band that you have first heard through a video game?

For example, I got into the band Feeder after hearing a few of their tracks in Gran Turismo 3, the composing style of Akira Yamaoka from the Silent Hill series and "Sweet Child of Mine" from the Guns n' Roses shot to one of my favorite songs through excessive play from Guitar Hero 2.

How about for yourself?

Cage the Elephant.

I got hooked on them after hearing them sing in the intro to Borderlands
Then again everyone heard of them because of the intro to Borderlands.

Can't really think of anything else though.

Paramore. Back when I had Saint's Row 2, I heard "Misery Business" alot on the in-game radio, and loved it, so I looked them up afterward. Best decision I've ever made.

Sometimes I am beside myself when it happens, but I've gotten into some songs and bands from games, even when I hate the soundtrack to the game. I hated just about everything from the MLB 10: The Show soundtrack except for 1 song -called WORK, by the band Hockey. Maybe it was because it was a band called Hockey in a baseball game that caught my attention, but I got their album and it was pretty solid.

Need For Speed: Most Wanted introduced me to Bullet For My Valentine and Guitar Hero 3 got me into Senses Fail.

Yes, when I played Undead Nightmare. I heard a song by Kreeps called Bad Voodoo.. And that made me a fan of them.

Also, the DooM and Zeno Clash soundtracks are fucking awesome. Here's proof.

I Guess that track that plays through Dragon-Age. And that one that plays in HL-2 when you go through a house where the resistance just had a fight and theres this one guy dying.

And some others, i guess Red Alert theme.

Assuming Guitar Hero counts.

In a bit of a roundabout way, I guess playing Guilty Gear got me into listening to Queen, mainly because Daisuke Ishiwatari threw so many shoutouts to them into the games (not to mention an asston of other bands).

I loved the music in Alan Wake, most of all that by The Old Gods of Asguard. I thought it all added to the experience in a very positive way. So yea, that, Borderlands with Cage, Guitar Hero, Amplitude, and Rock Band, so the usuals.

Just a little correction there, Old Guards of Asgard are a fictional band, their song in Alan Wake was done by Poets of the Fall.

I know, but I was specifying the two songs that Poets Of The Fall did for that band as my favorites. The other song (or songs, I can't remember) by them didn't impress me quite as much as Children Of The Elder God and The Poet And The Muse. That's likely just because I payed more attention to them due to their importance to the game though.

Daisuke Ishiwatari is the MAN. I rock out to his music every day now. Guilty Gear and BlazBlue.
