I know it's not a separate band (with the exception of 30 Seconds to Mars), but I love the music for Dragon Age: Origins. I listen to it on a semi-constant basis. This annoys my roommates, but when they try to get me to turn it off, I point out that they listen to the Final Fantasy soundtracks, and they have the advantage because FF has turned out more music over more games than DA:O.

And damn, I need to stop watching Zero Punctuation, because I start sounding like a cheap rip-off of Yahztee's genius.

Got into Dr Dre for a little while after playing GTA: San Andreas. I stopped though, because listening to rap just makes me feel so...white.

Utada Hikaru from Kingdom Hearts as well, getting kinda sick of Sanctuary tho. Disney needs to stop using that song and start paying her.

Not much apart from that, but its always nice to see bands I like in games I like.

Sure... I think. Hang on, lemme think of an example.

...

Yep, I have. I was a fan of A Fire Inside (AFI) very briefly after buying the GTA: San Andreas soundtrack and listening to their cover of Head Like a Hole. I also became a fan of Mastodon and Avenged Sevenfold for a while after songs of theirs were featured in NHL 2006 I believe.

whatever that composers name is that does Final Fantasy
That would be Nobuo Uematsu. If you don't know about it, you should check out The Black Mages and Distant Worlds, both bands he's been in that remade some FF songs.

The Black Mages is that rad metal band, right? I think I heard their version of One Winged Angel. If it wasn't them, whoever did that metal version is aces.
It is indeed The Black Mages. Though, I only know one metal version of One Winged Angel and that's from Advent Children. Still good, though.

Distant Worlds is a band that does orchestra versions of some of the FF songs.

If you can, check out both bands.

I rather liked the musician 'Magnet' who did a few pieces of music for Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Not typically the sort of stuff I listen to, but hell, it's nice and it suited the mood of the game perfectly, which is rare considering most developers tend to go with brand name over suitability. Not to mention I'd never have heard of this guy without games seeing as I generally don't follow Norwegian musicians.

Cage the elephant in borderlands intro
&
poets of the fall in Max Payne 2 credits

I didn't really get into them but I sure enjoyed how much the songs added to the games.

Hmm. I learned of Shadows Fall when I got the soundtrack for God Of War II, and they're good. I also learned of The Duskfall who have a music video playing in The Darkness. Both bands are metal bands, by the way. Sound good, both of them.
