The curse of stupefying A.I. stupidity is everywhere.

And the problem is, it strikes your allies without fail.

Who else has a phobic avoidance complex when it comes to anything but the driver's seat on the Warthog? Who else has screamed in impotent fury as a fellow zombie apocalypse survivor applies an immobilizing medkit to them as a Tank bears down on them. Who else has pumped shotgun rounds into Sheva Alomar's back because she insists on wielding her useless pistol?

I know these problems have struck me, and others out there.

So come one, come all, see who has the best A.S. (Artificial Stupidity) stories out there.

Many times, Especially in Gears of War games. During the campaign.

Your downed but not out, the damn AI doesn't help you up because he is too busy looking out at the 'Chest high walls'.

Oh, I have a genuine example.. Company of Heroes.

Biggest AI fail ever.. I ordered a sniper to take cover behind a formation of treelogs to snipe down an Panzerschreck-squad. He ignored all orders, stood in front of the logs, shot 3 bullets which all missed, and then the Panzersquad shot a missile right in my sniper's face..
Panzers can't even hit a tank close range, since the missiles will go retarded and fly towards the moon.

How's that for bullshit combined with worst A.I. ever?

Only on Gears of War, in all other games I find the AI to be extremely useful (yes, I do play Halo, but surprisingly the Halo AI, especially Halo 3, is pretty damn good). But on Gears of War, my ally usually dies pretty soon and I have to either help him out or fight alone. However, this only seems to be on the harder difficulty levels, on easy the AI isn't too bad...

Beleive it or not it`s somehow worse when playing as sheva because chris is built like a tank and as he speands most of his time standing right in front of you ,you literally can`t see anything

Just play MoH-Airborn. The AI are all like "Hey! That guy is shooting at Germans! Lets help him by running into his firing line with out warning! And, when he hits us we will just shake our heads and ***** about him!"

Well, Sheva's a good example, I always ended up giving her something that wouldn't use up my ammo, because otherwise she would spend it all shooting the zombie in the toe over and over. And then she couldn't figure out how to move when the big chainsaw wielding guy is standing right behind her, just turn and wave "Hi mister zombie man!" while she blocks me from shooting him and saving her life.

But even worse than that is the enemy AI in Drakengard. I literally beat a level in my sleep. Every enemy walks in a formation with a bunch of other enemies. When you come running in and kill some, then run away, they don't chase after you. No, they go back to their formation while you run off and heal. And when you come back, you can actually see huge gaps in the formation where there used to be enemies. And when you come flying in with your giant fireball spitting dragon, they just keep marching. Blow them up? The survivors get back up and go back to their marching duties.

Well at least the enemy A.I. in the Halo games are great.

This is one of the reasons why I like the first Half-Life more than the second. Your squad in Half-Life 2 are even worse.
That was genius

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2, always fighting against one of the big-ass bosses and the team-mate that has to live gets trapped in a corner and obliterated by said-boss.

What's worse is that once I'd eventually killed the damn thing, the character then died as part of the story anyway, then I had to destroy the boss again!

CoH certainly has some AI problems that need straightening out, but it's usually nowhere near that bad.

Unreal Tournament 3, though, is probably the worst AI I've seen in a long time. In Warfare mode you'd often literally be better off without your allies than with them.
Epic really need to sort their shit out if Gears has AI problems too (I've yet to play it).

There was a time on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion when I was exploring a dungeon. I came across two zombies. One reached out with his arm towards the other's waist. The other zombie looked at me. The first zombie stopped what he was doing. Both zombies attacked me.
I think I interrupted an intimate moment.

On Gears of War 2, I suffer from the same issues as everyone. F*cking Dom! He was standing right next to me when my legs got blown out from under me. He looked like he was about to help me up, then dashed off. Probably thinking 'WHEREZ MI WIEF?!'

Fucking Call of Duty 4 A.I on Veteran difficulty. They're not even useful as another target for the enemy to shoot at.

Anyone notice that friendly A.I. (and not just CoD) somehow become competent only when hostile against the player? I just can't help but think that A.I. in games are the A.I. of the soon-to-be T-1000s.

Halo 3.
Halo 3 judged on the basis of the game is fun. but the AI and the AI alone put me off the entire game.
ie-demanding that i destroying a super mega protected vehicle from the inside-out and blowing ME up with a missile pod when take 2 steps towards it.
Blowing me up with our own aircraft when im trying to take out wraiths/banshees/anti-air/scarabs
stepping literally infront of my face the second before i pull the trigger on a rocket launcher or sniper shot-often resulting in them shooting me openly because im a "traitor"
Driving us into blatantly obvious mines and rocket attacks-driving us into rocks-driving us off cliffs-driving me into a chopper (for those that dont play halo-big big motorbike with guns attached that can blow up all light and medium vehicles)
and it goes on...

yes, that was my let down.
otherwise, most AI stupidity can be avoided. kill them prior, or make sure your no where near or let them die off or make sure mentally retarded ewoks dont get their grubby little paws on the BFG 9000 and a Crysis Power Suit.
lol
