I cried my eyes out at the end of Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (seriously, most I've cried at any piece of media), the most any other anime has done is get me a bit teary. Those include Fruits Basket, Angel Beats!, Voices of a Distant Star, and K-On!! (I was just so sad it had to end at all T_T). I think I teared up during Nana and TTGL too, but not at the end.

The manga for Saikano made me cry, but I hated both voice casts too much to watch the anime.

I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one who cries for animated characters :p .

Gurren Lagann. Technically I didn't cry. But it nearly got me to. The epicness of it is too much!

Deathnote. You all know when!
I can't remember if I actually cried, but it came pretty damn close.
EDIT: It wasn't the ending, but it should have been...

Agreed. That was the ending. I get the feeling the author got badgered into the travesty that occurred afterwards.

Samurai X, at the end of both the fourth and sixth OVA's.
Berserk made me shed tears and made me sit alone on my couch for an hour in shock. It was just plain awful
Death Note and Gankutsuo's endings made me sad, but didn't bring me to tears.

I didn't feel that strongly about it, but I do agree. I doubt it was supposed to continue.
After all, N being an obvious replacement for L, and the fact that the schemes are decidedly less awesome. The show just got worse, though I did still enjoy it. I just think it would have been a lot better had it ended with L's death, regardless of how sad that was. Look at how Kira won against L. Brilliance, pure genius. Then he gets beaten by a book swap? It had potential, if N hadn't obviously been fan service. Maybe if he'd had a personality of his own...

Anime doesn't usually get to me at all, because most of the time the endings coincide, at least partially, with what i wanted the ending to be (like the ending to elfen lied leaving it open for being alive or dead).

Code Geass R2 is an anime that really got to me.

Not because Lelouch dies in the end (because they leave the ending open for those who thought he needed to die and those who desperately wanted him to live) but because he can Kallen never really get together. They both had the feelings there, the situation just got in the way.

Would have preferred it if they had made an OVA episode (i've heard rumours that there is an extra 1) in which C.C and Lelouch have a bit of a talk about how he loves Kallen more, blah blah blah, he gets into contact with Kallen probably by using a disguise and in the end she gets C.Cs immortality... or maybe not get so complicated and have him riding away on the cart with Kallen at the end.

Yes.

Ai No Kusabi.

Eventhough I knew what was going to happen (I'd read about it before finally getting my paws on it), but I burst into tears as soon as noted cold badass Katze broke down in tears

definitely, although

i wouldn't call manipulation pure genius. Granted it was a good move, because it removed the girl shinigami (its been so long i forget some names) and L in one blow, but for it to have ended there minor changes would have been needed IMO, and maybe a bit of an epilogue to explain some loose ends.

I didn't cry but the ending of Berserk felt like a remember feeling actually numb for a few minutes after the ending. It just seemed so brutal, so horrible that I felt like it was just so beyond what I was expecting. I don't know I also felt happy as I was glad to have watched such a good series but still, there was a sense of melancholy about me that day.

Death Note - The end, and the "you know which bit" in the middle of the series ;D

Elfen Lied - That end scene with Mariko and kurama just killed me

Full Metal Alchemist the movie conquerer of Shambala - (the end and the last scene with wrath)

Grave of the Fireflies - So sweet yet so sad

Gravitation - some of the scenes where Yuki cries

LOL theres plenty more that I cant think of right now :p

I don't mind being called a fanboy, but I love the parts in Clannad After Story that are sad. Mostly because they are realistic.
Yes, they do bring her back with magic and all that, but other than the resolution, the situation is perfectly realistic.
Oh, and one other thing. I loved it so much that I actually played the Graphic Novel for it. Some of the scenes were good in anime, but FUCKING HELL they were great in the game.
Seriously, don't click here if you haven't finished the anime
I'm serious ._.
This is my serious face... o_o
NAGISA NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Seriously, watching this scene unfold in the anime was brutal, but damn was it evil in the VN. As Tomoya is talking to her, holding Ushio in his arms, telling her how much fun they are all going to have together, the pictures of her change slightly. Ever so slightly, starting from her looking tired, holding his hand firmly, to the picture above, of her... barely holding onto his hand, having lost all strength... and then he asks her if he is right. And she doesn't respond...
FUCK!

Cowboy Bebop. "Bang." Depressed for an hour afterwards.

Also, Azumanga Daioh's ending is really depressing, too. THEY'RE ALL MORONS. THE HAVE NO FUTURE. It should be bittersweet, not light-hearted! They barely made it through college, they'll be mopping floors soon. For characters we've come to love during the course of the series, that's a pretty damn bleak ending, really.

I watched the whole series of Evangelion when I was 12...
One of the best anime I've ever watched, I don't like a lot of anime btw.
Though I didn't cry, It was definitely moving...
