BioWare games always do this to me. I just finished Dragon Age and I feel like I just lost four friends. Do others ever feel this way or am I just weird?

Aeris.

XD Nah just joshin' ya.

Ahem... :|

In all seriousness I was put in a not so good mood when Fara died in Sands of Time (BTW spoiler).

And while nobody actually died, I was absolutly moved to tears at the end of Shadow of the Colossus.

The moment when you decide, thats it. I'm done playing this mmo after 2-3 years.
WoW Unsurprisingly.

Loosing a friend? You don't want to know what that's like...

Fallout 3:
I suppose I did feel quite sad that Liberty Prime got blown up. He was epic.

My Fallout 3 character before I got Broken Steel. It really got to me after I put so much work into that character. Bioware games as well have a tendency to do this as the OP mentions, though my Dragon Age game did not result in any of my party members getting killed off.

Not quite that strongly, but yes I guess so.

Fallout 3 is a good example, my female explosives expert with purple hair was kick ass. Mass Effect I would say as well except it's only two thirds finished.

John Marston, grew really attached to him during the game, and the ending kinda killed it for me
Took the words right out of my mouth.

Oh, you think that's bad? How about when Tali died on my third playthrough of Mass Effect 2. She was the only character my super-renegade Shepard ever cared about. It was made so much worse by the fact that I had kept every character alive through the previous playthrough, meaning it was all my fault for trying to bump off Morinth by giving her an unsuitable job.

There's also a similar effect when you read through the entire back-log of a story driven webcomic. You eventually make it to the end, and you realise you're going to have to wait for new updates like all the other schmucks to find out what will happen next.

Story of my gaming life. e_e I get attached to characters waaaaaay too easily.

As far as it feeling like I lost friends, maybe Dragon Age is really the only match. I've had plenty where I got attached to the characters but never felt like they were my actual friends, but in Dragon Age, I got to interact with the characters myself and that made me even more attached to them.

Xion, from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

She was very likeable, and I loved the depth they gave her as a character.

Despite being a puppet, she was characterized much better then ANY other character in the series, I felt. Her death at the end of 358 was the saddest I have ever felt playing a videogame; and truely touched my heart. One of the few games that has ever been able to make me cry.

Dude, there is absolutely no point in putting the spoiler warning after the actual spoiler. Try using spoiler tags: [ spoiler ] Insert Text Here [ /spoiler ] Remove the spaces.

I've said this so many times before, but I still am almost brought to tears when Brooklyn dies at the end of Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.

The end of Episode 1... I still haven't forgiven Valve for putting Barney on a bus train...

And I guess any character in an FPS *Portal, Metroid Prime, Bioshock*, since you can get pretty attached to your idea of the character, the end of the game has that little bittersweet feel.

No characters that I play as...but I do get a bit sad in games like Chrono Trigger with the supporting cast.
