I did when I first got a GOOD graphics card for my computer a few weeks ago.
It's like going from .jpeg to .png
And then it blew out my power source.
So now i'm on a new laptop, that has even better graphics.(suprsing)

The first time I played Unreal - when it was the newest thing out there.

Also, Oblivion when I turned around and could still see the tower..

That was unreal!

Just Cause 2. I finally, had no mission to concentrate on, and I felt like messing around and seeing what happened, so I jumped in a helicopter, went as high as I could, jumped out and...

Way, way back in the day, the art and Graphics in FFVII blew my mind.

Afterwards, I was rarely blown away...until those first few preview videos of Half Life 2. That may have been the singular moment I realized that I was living in the future, and was genuinely amazed that this technology was available to the civilian market. In my mind, it was the start of this gaming generation.

I seem to remember when the PSP was first released, the power in something that size came pretty close to blowing my mind.

Then there was...some current gen racing game. I don't remember which one. Made me realize that in terms of sheer realism, you can't beat racing games. Sadly, I don't play racing games.

Then, naturally, there was Crysis. So pretty. I could shoot trees, and watch them break exactly where I shot them all day long, and since it was solid gameplay, I didn't even resent it.

Then, though it may not be a fair representation, there was that tech demo for the New Cry Engine. Holy crap, I want a game with that.

Recently I've been playing through Halo Reach (Great game btw imo lol) and, as I finished the campaign in split-screen multiplayer it's only now I notice just how...impressive the game looks when not compressed to a quarter of the screen
Too bad the framerate in reach drops heavily in some firefights during the campaign, it took away from my immersion :(

Eh, with graphics not really taking leaps and bounds these days I haven't had an case of graphics awe in a while. Though the Fallout 3 vista at the start really took my breath away.

Oblivion was one of my biggest awes. Okami made me awe too and Assassins Creed 2 was awesome.

Assassin's Creed 1 and 2. I mean seriously the game even makes it a point for you to go climb towers and then have a moving pan around of the surroundings.

Resident Evil 4. In fact, I think RE4 broke my brain. I can't comprehend any game looking better than it because my brain just files it as 'better than RE4'.

All games in any current gen console look the same to me.

Am I... Am I racist?

I just registered only to say Trine.
Technologically, I don't think it uses much fewer tricks than fancy shooters and whatnot. More importantly, the designs are absolutely breathtaking, be it backgrounds you only see once, or the unique feel of each area. It's honestly the best-looking game I have ever played. Screw Crysis, why do you eat hardware if all you do is render some leaves? CryTek wouldn't know the word "design" if it bit them in their German behinds.

I agree with the others who mentioned Assassin's Creed, but that was mostly because it had been the first time I saw all the new technology - the game came free with my then-new graphics card, after having to endure a GeForce 6800U for years. It was a joy to see how far graphics had gotten.

Probably a strange example, but Star Wars Galaxies definitely had me in awe all the time. It has an unfair advantage insofar that the unique look of the Star Wars universe is just very appealing to a, duh, SW fan; but the engine was also ahead of its time. No, it was - when it came out, nobody could run it well. I played the SWGEmu earlier this year and it held up awesomely. There is only one place that can beat Tatooine...

... and that's Hyrule. But only after it's buried under a flood. I totally fell in love with Wind Waker's art style - and this wasn't when it came out, it was last christmas. Maybe it was the bright greens and blues in this greybrown FPS-era, but I spent hours just looking at all the places.
And nobody complain that it's too kiddy. Most of the characters are kids and kid-friendly, but damn it knew how to create atmosphere. It's called contrast, look it up. (Oh yeah, and adorable kiddie-Link murders big bad Ganon by shoving a sword in his face...)

Still, Trine beats them all. I still visualgasm just thinking about it.

I bought a new gaming PC in December of 2006. Spent a good-sized chunk of money on it, really went full-out.

Then I bought Oblivion. I climbed out of the sewer, up to the bluff where the Imperial Prison sits, got a good look at the stuff in the distance...and was like "hot damn."

First and only time I've ever been compelled to just stare in awe at a game's graphics.

Crysis. Has to be. Just after you've found the first dead chap in your squad hanging in a tree, you head up out of the grassy valley and into the first light of dawn breaking over a beach camp and rays of light piercing the foliage and hitting the individually rendered rocks. *weep*
