Ever had to do something you hated and loved?

I'm posting this because I have an oral assignment due and I hate it but I also love it.
For Literature class, our teacher (she's not mean, she's actually really nice) said we needed to read a short story, such as a fable or legend or just a short story, of our choice and read it to the class. Of course, I'm a Lovecraft nerd, but I decided to spare my classmates some of the confusion and pick my favorite story by Lovecraft not from the Cthulhu Mythos: Pickman's Model. However, after she'd already written it down, she added that we have to memorize the stories. Not word per word, but not a summary either.
So now, I pretty much have to memorize Pickman's model. I love the story, but memorizing it is a pain.
So, have you ever done something you hated and loved? (no witty wife/girlfriend comments or mom jokes)

Giving an essay on something that I think highly of: Sex and Violence in movies and the unfair passes that one gets over the other.

I like talking about it, citing examples and whatnot. But, I had a topic for my business class that people should be willing to debate, but then the hard part for me was trying to find visuals of Sex from Movies and Violence in Movies, of which there are many on the internet, but the ones I am looking for are from movies.

I found most of the clips I was looking for on youtube, but before, during and after the project was over, I could not get over how hard it was to find these clips (in good quality, find them at all, ETC).

I loved doing it (I got an A), but I hated doing it (Finding evidence to back claims is some kind of painful, especially when you can't unwatch what you have watched)

My bachelor thesis. Love the subject, but it sure as hell is a pain to get it up to the standards my thesis-tutor (guidance person, I don't know what it's called) wants it to be.

Playing hockey on a team I hated, with a coach who probably hated me more than I hated him.

Love the sport, couldn't stand a single game I played that season.

Anytime I am forced to write poetry. Don't get me wrong, I love writing across a number of topics and styles, and yes, even enjoy writing poetry. But I only enjoy writing on my terms. Usually, when I'm forced to write something, it becomes darkly satirical and implies that I'd rather not be writing it.

I love to draw, and I'm pretty damned good at it. Always have been, at least in comparison to my peers. I figured art class would be rather fun.
