Have you ever liked a game that you just sucked at?
I really love Fallout 3s story, atmosphere and the ideas behind the gameplay mechanics, but I am just horrible at it. I get lost all the time, run out of ammo constantly, and die often. I just can't play it for some reason (though this is the PS3 version, so the controls could just be shit.)

Oh mine was Bioshock! (the first one)
I loved the atmosphere, the story, the graphics, the voice acting, everything!
But no matter what (I tried on a few separate occasions) I just get bored! The mechanics make me so frustrated, and I just can't play through it... which mad me pretty sad because I just wanted to experience the awesome ending for myself!

That's the idea of Fallout, you could however turn the difficulty down to very easy (although you earn -x%).
This sounds like I'm really full of myself but (bar puzzle games) I've never really give up a game because it's too hard.
Also, happy 100th post to me.

Try an entire genre.

I really like the premise behind RTS games, but unless I'm playing against an AI opponent on easy or normal difficulty I get my ass handed to me. As a result I've established a personal rule to never play multiplayer. I still enjoy watching the replays of others, though.

I'm much the same way. love RTS games but pretty bad at them with the exception of Warzone 2100 which I was good at.

Turn based strategy games I absolutely love playing, but my attention always wavers after a while and I stop paying attention properly then tend to lose catastrophically.

Bioshock, although not at all for the reasons of the person a few posts above me. It's possibly the most beautiful and haunting game I've ever seen yet I can hardly bear to watch someone else play it, let alone myself, the suspense is just too much for me sometimes. >_<

BlazBlue.

Maybe it's because I can't use the controller to play fighters, I dunno. I'm sure I'm just shit at it. Apparently the fightstick makes a HUGE difference though.

I also love Fallout 3, but I can't get back into. I remember getting so immersed and into the game, I just try now and get bored very quickly, and barely last half an hour before quitting.

I guess the reason is that I'm so sick of repeating the first few quests over and over again from all the saves I make.

I really enjoy playing the Total War games, but I hardly get anywhere in them before things start to go wrong.

I can probably say most Final Fantasy games I've tried, I love the production values, art direction and stories but I just find the gameplay of them so disengaging, wierd part is I like a lot of RPGs and have fond memories of many jRPG's, but theres just something about the Final Fantasy games that I cant put my finger on, so I tend to just watch cutscenes online and read up on wikis etc. to fill in any plot gaps I miss.

A Hermit's Cave
As someone who can't hack horror games, it took me an absolute age to get through Amnesia... had to stop every fifteen minutes to make sure I hadn't soiled myself and check I wasn't about to have some sort of infarction.

One of these days, must see what the fuss is about regarding Silent Hill...

EDIT:

See, I'm the complete opposite though at first (when R:TW had just come out) I was much the same. Played M:TW and couldn't expand for shit. Now, after a few thousand hours of empire building, I'm constantly going 'MOAR! COME AT ME, BITCHES!' Besides, shit going wrong is part of the fun for me...

Dragon Age : Origins, I heard it had a grate story, it had immersion, and from the makers of Mass Effect, the game play how ever is not for me and I have only ever got a few missions in before it started collecting dust on a shelf.

Starcraft 2.

I watch Day9, HD and Psy casts, any pro tournament I can find, and regularly browse the forums.

I haven't played the game in almost half a year, because I'm not very good and too much of a coward to play online.

Fighting games in general. I love them but I'm horrible at them. :/ I keep trying to get better but I always end up getting my booty handed to me.

I play on PC, and never find it difficult to get into a game if I really like it. If it's just because I have a decent mouse or a fancy side keyboard I don't know, but if I find it decent enough to play I go for it.

This seems to happen all the time, Fighters especially. I can never quite figure out how they work. A lot of JRPG's as well, Pokemon, Dragon Quest, and Chrono Trigger are all games I can really get in to, but if I try something else I get bored. Like Shin Megami Tensei, I just find the dungeon crawling boring and the story isn't instantly gripping (I'm going off of Persona and Strange Journey as those are two I have).

Oh, and Final Fantasy Tactics, I love Tactics Advance and Tactics A2, but I can't even get past some of the earliest missions in Tactics for PSP.

I guess I'm just a noob, there's a bunch of games I've enjoyed but got stuck in as well, like No More Heroes 2's stealth level.

Mass Effect.

I love the story, characters, gameplay, everything really. I've watched my friends play, I've seen clips from it (Mordin singing Gilbert and Sullivan being the best) but when I actually sat down to play Mass Effect, I just couldn't get into it. For some odd reason, it just didn't mesh well with me.

I'm going to give it another go when I get around to buying my own Xbox, then I'll borrow them from my friend while he's playing through Mass Effect 3.

Gears of War 2. I was absolutely shite at it and would die constantly yet every time I killed someone it felt much more rewarding than any other game.
