Ever played that game you never want to end?

The Golden Sun series, (the first two, third one was blah), and Final Fantasy Tactics (PS or GBA, whichever you fancy).

These were games that every cutscene could be the end, (actually, the first Golden Sun ended out of nowhere) and I found myself saying "Don't be the end, don't be the end" instead of actually reading dialogue.

I think RPG's tend to lend themselves to this kind of reaction, most games these days rely so little on the single player experience, there is no end for most of these FPS's, Sports games, Racing games, etc. So I only see Platformers and RPG's ever falling in to this category in the future.

On a side note, who thinks that Final Fantasy Tactics would be a FANTASTIC launch title for the Wii U, being that as it will take full advantage of the second screen, and only be single player (no arguing over the tablet)?

Think it would have to be Earthbound on the super nintendo. Never more pissed off than at the end of the game, Pokey gets away. After the credits roll, you get a knock at the door and Pokeys brother gives you a note. Note says that he got away and is planning his next move. Man I waited for so long for something to happen, when it didn't, I was raging. Really wanted the game to continue and was praying that there was some kind of second quest.

Dragon Age: Orgins.

I wouldn't have minded if the game was three times longer if it kept the same quality of story throughout.

I would have enjoyed playing an epilogue for just about every party member.

Half-Life 2 and expansions.
Portal.
Soul Reaver 1 and 2 (not the expansions or anything).
Supreme Commander 1 (shame it hated my pc).
Medieval II: Total War.
Halo 1, 2 and 3.
Battale Engine Aquila.

The list goes on and on... there's a bit of nostalgia mixes in there aswell.

Strangely, Brutal Legend. I played it recently, and when I saw the end coming up all I could think was "Aww, really?". It was right when the story was starting to get interesting, too. BL is a game that could have benefited IMMENSELY from being about 1.5 to 2 times as long as it is.
This. I'm almost certain that there was supposed to be a third campaign (against the Coil), but it was dropped due to time constraints. Most abrupt ending ever IMHO :/

Deus Ex, natch. Loved that game...

And Red Faction Guerilla! A good game, but with more content (not just increased length, mind!) it could have been a truly superlative game.

Assassins Creed: Brotherhood. Even after the storyline ended, I played for hours and hours just running around the city and unlocking everything I could. Then I had to give it back to my bro, even though I just wanted to play forever...
Arkham Asylum as well. It was so much fun but seemed so very short!!

No.

That is the last thing I would want for any game, regardless of how good it is.

Ever heard the phrase "to outstay one's welcome?"
