Call of Cthulhu kind of confused me. Fantastic game, great scares, but a bit weak on the story end. It's probably because I'm not really a Lovecraft fan.

Pac Man

I mean, what the heck is he? What creature eats ghosts? Is the stage inside of Pac Man? Is the box his stomach and that's why the ghosts end up in the box when he eats them? Are the ghosts disease trying to kill pac man? Would that make Pac Man a White Blood cell?

What is going on?

At least in frogger he's trying to get somewhere. I have no idea where, but he's going.

o_O KH2 and FFXII were relatively easy to follow. Maybe I'm wrong though...
FFXII showed a major departure from the FF series' stories. Most of them are about "save the world from the unspeakable evil" and involve stuff that's way larger than life, including epic love stories. XII dealt mostly with political intrigue, and the Big Bad's motivation, IIRC, pretty much plateaued at "I can do a lot of damage and want to rule an empire." THAT made it confusing for me, although I did play it more than 3 years ago, so I might understand it better now. :)
No no no.

The main villain, Venat, belongs to the race of gods called the Occuria. These Occuria are the invisible movers and shakers that uses Ivalice's desire for power against them, by creating magic stones that give the users access to great power, by imprisoning the Lucavi/Espers, etc..

One of the largest cases of this is the original King Raithwall, who used the power of the stones to forge a mighty ancient empire that eventually became Dalmasca.

Venat, on the other hand, had a different plan for man. He crafted a Xanatos Gambit involving two hume partners, Dr Cid Bunzanza, and Vayne Solidor. While it -appears- that these two were power-mad individuals, as it turns out, Vayne and Cid were told -straight- that Venat wanted to bring the age of mortals, and free them from the need for stones and desire.

So, Cid and Vayne used Archadia to take over the land ruled by the decendant of Raithwall, to force that decendant to commune with the Occuria, and to become armed with the weapons necessary to destroy the magic stones used by Cid and Vayne as superweapons.

The idea was very simple, Cid and Vayne decided to embrace a path of power, and become bloodthirsty despots so that -someone- would be forced to strike them down, destroy their weapon, and bring the world to a state of freedom from the mechanations of the Occuria. Ashe's huge dilemma is whether or not she takes up power to avenge her homeland and her husband, or to forsake power and do what is good for Ivalice. In the end, she chooses to forgo power and instead seek to destroy power.

And thusly, Venat and Vayne, through the destruction of the Suncryst, and through the destruction of Vayne Solidor and the Bahamut, accomplishes the severance of the Occuria from the world of man, making a heroic sacrifice in order for man to be free.

It's a lot more subtle than other stories, but it's -actually- quite deep.

I didn't really have a problem with MGS2, in so much as I understood it. I didn't like it, mind you, because that storyline was stupid, but I got it.
Same here, it's not a mindfuck or even terribly confusing, it's just one stupid retcon after another with little explaination inbetween.

How about Q*bert? What are you? Where are you? Why are you jumping on squares? Why do the squares light up? What are those other creatures? Why do they not like the squares lit? Does this nightmare ever end?

The first play through of Gears of War 1 was like that for me.
All I got from it was cutscene - run to cover - shoot something - cutscene

Then I played through again and actually payed attention to these cutscenes and I realised what was going in.

The confusing storyline can sometimes keep me IN the game. Finally by the time I beat it I'll understand it.

I played and loved Final Fantasy 12 and Kingdom Hearts 2, but I'll be damned if I knew what was going on. I don't remember what Vanye doing, but I was under the impression the council or at least the nights wanted Lasra on the throne. (correct me if I'm wrong. The plot of KH2 Sora runs around killing heartless and nobodies, while still looking for Riku and Kairi. Maleficient and Pete are house hunting, and the organization is causing mischeif.
Org 13 keeps me wondering if they were villains or not...they just want to be complete, but are labeled as evil because of how they went about their plans.
I'm with ya, sister! ^^

Yes, its called Borderlands.

Biggest "wtf just happened" ending I have seen in a while
Yes, that ending was just a big WTF to me as well. And it doesn't help that the last battle was ridiculously easy.

OT: Metal Gear. In all seriousness.. that game does not make sense. But I still love it haha.
