I don't have the balls to do it. I think even if my food were crawling with giant spiders, I would still just eat around them and suck it up. Besides, if I do send it back, it might come back with something even WORSE hidden in it.
What about all of you?

I've seen other people send things back for hairs, and I've had things taken back to be modified if they were cooked wrong, but I've never flat-out refused to eat unless something was replaced.

Well, the odd hair or two is no reason to send back food in my opinion, but once I sent back a steak. It was one of those fancy restaurants where waiting for over an hour for your food is apparently standard, and when I finally got my damn steak, and it was seared. Too bad I'd ordered it medium.

Captcha: foundation ssanity... I think Captcha is trying to tell me something.

Usually, I don't. I had recently though, but the waiter hadn't even moved from the table yet. We both seemed to notice at the same time that my order had everything on it that I asked not be put on it. lol So I didn't really ask him to take it back, so much as he picked it back up on his own and said, "Oh geez, I'll fix it!"

Just fast food restaurants. I swear they make me feel a little more racist every time I go...

The only dishes I've had to send back are a few improperly cooked steaks. If it's like boot leather it goes back. That one's something of an unwritten rule, I think, though.

I don't usually as I'm worried the chefs are gonna do something to it like spit in it. Or worse o_O

The only time we had send something back was when my bro found a hair in this bun. I found it funny that when they brought a new batch in he didn't eat it and I asked him if he was put off from the hair but he reply he was just full.

I've sent food back once or twice, usually due to order cock up.

I can't say I've ever encountered a meal I wouldn't eat. The closest I've come was a pretty crap pub burger, but it was clearly a case of bad chef rather than a single mistake. I was looking around and everyone's food looked poor. So rather than send it back, we just made a note not to eat there.

Edit:
Also, it was cheap. If a deal looks too good to be true, it usually is and all.

If it's cold or wrong, then yes I normally do. I'm not an arse about it though.
When I worked in a restaurant I once had a customer try to complain about a lasagne and get her meal for free. I just laughed considering she had eaten it all, and then wiped the dish clean with her garlic bread. She was serious too, even though I had asked midway through the meal and she told me it was fine.

I never have. I may have earlier in life but I don't remember anything specific. I fear chef-wrath and tend to avoid restaurants with food I may dislike.

I've rarely had a problem where I've needed to, and when I did it was REALLY bad.

So yes, but not exactly for minor things.

a few times for there being meat in my vegetarian dish and a few times for being really badly cooked, to the degree that it made me nauseous to try and eat it.

the worst time though was when I found genital hair in my food and I demanded a new serving and the owner started accusing em of putting it there my self, and I pretty much exploded in his face about it.

in the end I won and got my food for free.

Damn right I have.

When i'm paying for that food I want it as close to perfect as it's going to get.

If it turns up in front of me in a shit state then i'm sending it back. If it comes back shit again I refuse to eat it and leave.

Only if a steak has been undercooked. usually ask it to be "butterflied" (aka: cut in half and cooked again), and as far as I know it's not that big a deal to do. That usually only happens when it's a particularly thick cut too. This was also back before I developed a taste for raw meat :p

Unless they screwed up extremely bad, no. Drinks are a different story. Almost every chain restaurant I go to I have to send any mixed drink/cocktail back because it's watered down so bad.

My boyfriend is a chef, and he wanted you all to know that if you send food back and there is genuinely something wring with it, chefs don't, by and large, spit on it or fuck with it like that. It's gross and they hate the implication.

However, if you send it back for no good reason, well... just don't.

I never sent anything back, but one of my friends once sent a beer back because it was too light. Bear in mind that it was listed on the menu as a light italian pilsener. Three words that mean light and it still somehow caught him off-guard.

I've never sent it back, but I have rejected it and departed a couple of places. I'd never accept a replacement because I don't trust others not to be spiteful.
