Ever thought about creating Machinima?

Yes... but nothing good. The only Machinima I've ever made is the Sims 2 and that was because it was so easy to make. And they were probably the worst ever made.
I once wanted to make a gmod comic (I know, I know, but I was young and foolish) and I had some somewhat humorous storyboards lying around, but then I realized that I didn't have gmod.
I made a whole bunch of San Andreas machinima on SAMP, but most of them were pretty boring with rubbish music over a lengthy video and text (usually too much of it). Only one was structured correctly with voice actors and all, and in that one the story didn't really make sense.
My lesson from all this: If you're going to make a video without any talking or sound effects, keep it short.
I made a couple I'm proud of, sadly they both have only hundreds of views, whereas the ones I think aren't so good got thousands. I would of made more, but Windows 7 broke my camtool so thats that.

I did some voice work for a Metal Gear Solid one, I don't think it ever went anywhere since it had a lot of people involved and some people who did voices quit during the creation of the first episode. They had to re record and it just never got finished.
A group of people that I knew in college tried to get a WoW machinima going, they had a lot of problem with editing and the creators really weren't happy with the final products so they scrapped the project. They tried a second go, but people graduated and it never got past the story board phase.

Oh, hell yeah I've thought about it. I've just never gotten arount to it and I don't have the crazy technology you kids have.
Sounds better than the typical youtube drivel. I do seriously think I could make something half funny, I see enough people liking things which I just look at and think are terrible when it comes to machinima that I can't help but think I'd be able to do something great.Sassafrass said:
The only problem is actually doing it, I wouldn't know how and if I did i'd have no help. I've talked a friend once about an idea for a game related comedy we'd do, we even considered putting it up for the escapist film festival. Sadly we realised their was only 4 days to go of the festival and we didn't even have a camera.
I'll remember next time though, and we'll give it ago. I wouldn't expect to do that well, but just the approval from the escapist forum goers would be wonderful.
I thought about it back when I still played Halo online and watched Halo machinima, but buying all the equipment necessary and actually creating a decent vid with good performance and narrrative is too demanding so I never even tried. As of now I still wouldn't.

My desire to do so has lead to me taking media courses at tafe, because I want to put those ideas in action. I even bought a Capture Card just for such a purpose. However even though my friends and I kind of goof off about the idea at the end of the day I'm not quite sure if it would ever work.
Point is while I have all these ideas flowing in my head, the actual practical side of doing them is a whole other matter, I am no proffessional, at least not yet and as a result I fear I would not be able to deliver the quality that would fit the ideas.

Done some before with MxO, though it was more along the lines of editing captured videos together than doing anything too in depth and scripted. Either way, they turned out fairly well and it's very fun if a little complex when you get others involved.
