Even people that don't effect the world on a larger scale effect the world on a smaller scale, for better or for worse. Everyone and everything has a purpose, even if that purpose seems insignificant in the grand scheme of things. If you never existed, though, the world might be a LOT more different than you'd expect.

It wouldn't affect anyone because their lives wouldn't have to adjust with your presence. People would just lead different lives and not know they are doing so.

Only all the time, high five!

But yeah a single life is insignifigent cosidering how many there are, but that won't stop me from enjoying myself. Not everyone has to be a revolutionary.

I have no idea why I exist or what my existence means in the grand scheme of life, so I can't fairly scrutinize the finer aspects of life such as "Mine is worthless" or "My existence doesn't mean anything".

Last night, in bed I did the stupidist thing I could have possibly done.. I let my mind wander. The subject of life came up, and how I effect those around me. I know I will hurt people I care about unintentionally, often. Not only that, but I know that the world is a steaming ball of shit, corrupting anyone and everything it can get its grimy fingers on. Sure, I could live through it.. But afterward I doubt my ability to live, and the topic of committing suicide in the perfect manner that would bring the littlest harm to family and friends. This would include drugging my roommate that I will have once I reach adulthood, so that she isn't aware of what will transpire. I would leave her a painstakingly accurate letter of the matter.. All my thoughts on topics, and letters for my friends and family members already dropped off.. I would call the police to tell them I am committing suicide, and should go ahead and bring an ambulance over. The room of house I am.. That I drugged my roomate, and that she had nothing to do with the matter..

Fuck my life.

If I never existed, no one would mind, because they never would've known me in the first place.

But yes, I have wondered that before.

Technically no one needs to exist. We do it because it's good for a giggles every once in a while.

I'm a little suicidal. Without trying to make you all as depressed as me, I'm fairly certain the world is 99% full of horrible, horrible people and the entire world would be better off if we all died and the animals were allowed to do whatever they want.

I wouldn't actually commit suicide though, I'm just a little depressed.

Anyway, on the whole "Ever thought you don't need to exist?" side of things, no. I'm going to do something one day, wether it's finally release a book or maybe I don't know... rugby tackle a bunch of fratboys into a lake.

I once asked my best friend what her life would be like if I never existed. She said she didn't know, because I had impacted it rather heavily. Positively, no less.
I think that means I deserve to exist.

Yeah. God was all drinkin' rum one day and said, "You know what? I'ma...I'ma make shome dudesh...an'...yeah."
God kind of has a problem with his drinking.
He is very sensitive about it.
Also do not take this as an insult or anything, if I recall you are religious, but perhaps you may find it amusing anyway.
Yeah I am religious, but I don't see the point of getting all up in arms about jokes about God. Unless they are just blatant, no-holds barred, sacrilege. I thought that was funny, no harm, no foul.

My freind just went through a bad break up and relied on me for help. People also come to me for advice. I like to think I've done alot of good, and that a few people would be worse off without me. I also dont want to dissapear, I like my life and Im not ready to leave it yet.

I was thinking a similar question, only on a bigger scale. How long would it take for the Earth to lose all trace of us if all humans disappeared?

Reading round, I came across this article, and it makes for some very interesting (and strangely calming) reading:

http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg19225731.100-imagine-earth-without-people.html?full=true

the New Scientist article said said:
All things considered, it will only take a few tens of thousands of years at most before almost every trace of our present dominance has vanished completely. Alien visitors coming to Earth 100,000 years hence will find no obvious signs that an advanced civilisation ever lived here.
...it then went on to say said:
If another intelligent species ever evolves on the Earth - and that is by no means certain, given how long life flourished before we came along - it may well have no inkling that we were ever here save for a few peculiar fossils and ossified relics. The humbling - and perversely comforting - reality is that the Earth will forget us remarkably quickly
...which got me thinking, it's a slight possibility we aren't the first post-information-age civilisation this planet has seen. If they existed a long enough time ago, we would never know.

Yes. I (probably too frequently) muse upon how little I actually matter in the grand scheme of things. If I had never existed then I don't think my group of friends would miss my particular role in the pack. I have a sibling and he would have had another brother/sister, I've been told, had I not been born.

If I disappeared now though I hope I'd be missed by my friends and family. I'd really like to think that I'd at least mean enough to one person for them to shed a tear over me.

Well, yes, because we all make some kind of impact on the people around us.

But ultimately, in the huge universal scheme of things, no. Whenever I stop and think about the sheer size and vastness of events in the universe, I can't help but feel completely insignificant. Which kind of has a paradoxical effect on me. It makes me happy. It makes me realise that nothing actually matters, and so whatever I do, or whatever happens to me, it doesn't actually matter. Which is kind of cool.
