Here's my thing:

what makes this any different from any other time in the entirety of human history? You seem to understand that humans create a crapsack world, but then bemoan the current state. We've had gangs, violence, civil unrest, strive, hatred, and basically every other bad human action for the entire times humans have existed, we're just living through the most current instance of it.

It's not like fifty years ago none of this happened. It's not like five-hundred years ago none of this happened. The world's not "going" anywhere. It's there, so you can either accept that, and try to make that better, or call it in and kill yourself. Your pick.

There's a lot of fear mongering going on. Keeping control of what people are thinking about is big business, and is essential to those currently in power to maintain the status quo. Don't believe the hype. Seriously. If you fall into it, then you'll either be controlled predictably, by reacting the way you're "supposed" to, adopting the fear consciousness, and allowing those who "know better" to continue to control things to their advantage, or you'll panic, and try to "do something" about it yourself, thus attracting attention to yourself in ways you may not want. "There is nothing to fear but fear itself" was never more true than now, I'd say.

The News reports bad things happening because they are more interesting and sell better. After all, would you rather read about the Teenager who stabbed and robbed a 12 year old girl or the Teenager who helped out at a homeless shelter? I doubt most people would pick the latter...

take a look at any newspaper my friends, i guarantee you! at least one part of the main page, nomatter how small, there will be at least one article that is describing some new act of terror, or more suicides, or more deaths , more killing, more violence...

i mean excuse me but what the hell is happening? what the hell is wrong with people? every day more and more weapons are being built to destroy eachother on larger and larger scales. we live in society that is FLOODED with crime; we have rape, arson, murder, violent assaults. look at any major town in the UK or US, you have normal people (Hoodies in UK, Gang bangers in US) who go around, robbing, stabbing, shooting, dealing drugs, going crazy and attacking someone for no reason other than being glimpsed at for a few secconds.. what the hell?

lets face it, dudes and dudettes... the world is going to shit... we might as well join in and ride the crazy train to the final destination...

The world is not "suddenly going to shit", there has always been violence, and rape, and arson, etc.

There are many sources for information and news these days, internet, tv, phone, etc. and they're all relatively recent inventions. It's no wonder that we get an overload of violent imagery in our day-to-day lives. The world is the same as it always was for us. If anything, we're actually becoming better at avoiding violence, and accepting other people's beliefs and views.

It was not too long ago that blacks were persecuted the same way that gays are now. (Please don't think I am comparing black people to gays, that's not the point I'm making. Simply that they were treated horribly, all based on a part of themselves they couldn't help.) But people take a long time to learn, and eventually I'm sure we'll all realize that condemning someone for their sexual orientation is just as ridiculous as condemning them for the colour of their skin.

Point being, it's a slow process, but if anything, the world is getting better.
