Everyone here okay?

Now, as many of you have heard, multiple bad things happened across the world. From off the top of my head, there was the attack in Paris, another in Lebanon and Kenya, and an earthquake in Mexico and Japan.

Is everyone on here okay? I know we have Escapists all over the place, particularly in Europe, and I don't like feeling worried.

Physically yes. Bit of a mess emotionally with a huge cocktail of anger and sadness which is why I should probably argue on the net less. But I think I'll be ok.

I wish we got more threads like this. I'm being honest, compassion is a rare commodity these days.

This is a nice thread.

Living in ass crack Georgia, I'm about as far from any physical danger as it's possible to be, unless some super disease were to escape the CDC. Emotionally, my best wishes are going out to France, and the families of the people on that airliner. What a miserable couple of weeks it's been.

Yup, never better myself. The Paris attack hit pretty close to home though, reminds me of the London bombings ten years ago. A lot of my family live and work around the London area, so I'm really hoping that doesn't happen again. My aunt was close enough last time to hear one of the bombs explode from her workplace :-/

As an extremely boring person, I would just like to take this opportunity to apologize for hogging up an excessive amount of banality in the universe. It is now apparent that my having done so has caused things to get . . . 'interesting' elsewhere. I am sorry.

On a more serious note, I am doing fairly well. Or at least living a very boring life, which seems to be a massive step up from where a lot of people are right now.

I'm alright. Neither sad or afraid, just angry.

Angry at the Islamists (as I've been for years, they're nesting in my city), angry at their mates, angry at the people going "oh so now u care huh u honkis fuck paris #mazarine", angry about how little has been done to destroy the enemy, and angry because I'm angry and can do bugger-all to change it. It's all an angry, angry time.

But I'm angry and thus alive, have all my limbs attached and so does everyone I know. And I know that it's likely to remain so tomorrow, too. I'm fine, and thankful for it.

Lovely ol' thread, this.

Apart from being hungry and some other stuff, I'm quite dandy.

I'm fine as always, not being a very social person has its perks sometimes. I live in the middle of nowhere too so the odds of being shrekt by terrorist fuckboys are close to zero even if I did go out every weekend. Which I don't because fuck going outside, are you kidding? There are people out there!

Nice thread idea OP btw.

I'm not perfect, but not super bad either. Just had a delightful afternoon of boardgames again, as per usual on Sundays, I got a fun new Magic the Gathering EDH deck to fiddle with, Fallout 4 to play with and some very interesting papers to read for certain university assignments.

But at the same time, I can't deny that the 'state of the world' is worrying me more and more. With a couple of the Paris terrorists being from the Brussels area, stuff's getting really close. I can't deny that that's making me a little anxious, and I'm not exactly looking forward to using the international railway connection back home next month. Even though probably nothing is going to happen.

I also feel quite passionate about these issues as I want to work with them after I graduate, and the challenge is...intimidating. Working with these issues is starting to look more and more like a Sisyphus' task.

Next to that there's also some underlying personal things, a sense of loneliness (friends a-plenty, but few actual connections) mostly but that's besides the point of this thread.

Ain't that the sorry truth. It's something we could use more of in every aspect of society. The Escapist forums seems like a good enough place to start as any.

I'm good. I live in a nice city in northern Alabama where nothing tends to happen.

In fact I just got a new job so the only bad thing on my list is being waaaayyyy behind in my word count for National Novel Writing Month. [http://nanowrimo.org/]

I think even if things broke out into The Walking Dead around here, I'd still be fine. Guns, fences, and relatively sparse population.

My thoughts go out to those that got hurt by guns, though.

I'm alive!

That seemed a lot less likely a few hours ago, actually. I thought I'd been exposed to Y. pestis at work but the cultures came back negative so they let me out of isolation. I'm a bit bummed that my entire weekend got burned pacing about in a hospital room insisting I was 'feeling fine' to a pair of admittedly polite nurses but at least I won't be dying of the bubonic anytime soon.
Maybe next week...

As opposed to any other classmate? Methinks you need to watch out for the crazies a lot more than the muslims. There's not really been many attacks on schools by that lot- a lot less than frustrated white boyz with too many guns, bullets and too little to live for.

Very nice thread, Objectable.

Nice to get away from the sniping and "First World Problems" that run rampant on the interwebs.

All's good here in Texas. So far nothing stupid has happened...yet.

My heart goes out to the Parisians, though.

Vous êtes dans nos pensées et nos prières, Paris.

I have a bit of simmering rage just below the surface, but otherwise I'm pretty okay. Actually things are going well for me on a personal/professional level.

Things are better than normal here. Obviously significantly better than Paris or Lebanon, as I live on the west coast of the US in a relatively wealthy area and I have a job that pays well. But also I am currently feeling quite a bit better emotionally/personally than the rest of this year (which has had some serious shit), so that is a nice change of pace. :)
