Sooo The Newsroom, Breaking Bad and Dexter are all finishing up for the year or forever over the next few weeks... and i'm running out of things to watch. I need help to find something new.. preferrably something established with a few seasons available to watch in marathon sittings.

Here is what i've watched recently and whether i liked it or not or was kind of meh.. take it or leave it. Hopefully it helps with suggestions.

The Newsroom - Love it
Breaking Bad - Love it
Dexter - Like it
True Blood - Borderlining slipping into stupidity. Still like it.
Game of Thrones - Love it
Black Mirror - Love it
Orphan Black - Love it
Hemlock Grove - Flawed, but loved it
House of Cards - Fantastic
Boss - why oh why did this get cancelled. so sad. Loved it.
Bates Motel - Interesting.. don't mind it.. seems to pushing to borderline ripping off Twin Peaks (minus the supernatural stuff)
American Horror Story - Almost good. Not quite.
The Walking Dead - Love it, even if Rick Grimesbitch was getting a bit whiny and annoying.

Other stuff i've watched in the past that i loved :
Oz
Deadwood
Carnivale
Twin Peaks
Boardwalk Empire
The Sopranos
The Wire
Luther

I guess that will do for now.. based on this is there anything people can recommend? Or have i watched the best of whats on offer lol

Well if you like oz and the wire you might try Sons of Anarchy. I'm on the 3rd season myself although i'm not liking this season as much as the first two.

Try some from my personal favourites:

24 - Probably in my top 3 favourite shows
Supernatural - My number one favourite show
Criminal Minds - Thee best of cop procedural shows and just amazing characters, also my 2nd Favourite
New Girl - for a little uplifting comedy

Vampire Diaries - is ok... it is good for a bit of escapism. storyline is ok, Not bad, better than true blood in my opinion.
Sons Of Anarchy - is ok, not a bad show really

What do you have access to, I'm guessing Netflix if you've been watching House of Cards?

If you enjoyed The Newsroom you could try watching some of Aaron Sorkin's older stuff; The West Wing or Studio 60, perhaps. Can't say I've watched them myself but I hear good things. One recommendation I do have if it's available to you is Spooks / MI-5 - British drama series about MI6, which was really good, it's finished now unfortunately, but it ran for ten (albeit British-length) series, so it should keep you busy.

I would recommend The Shield to you.

I thought it was interesting, and that it escalated in a pleasing way. Could be worth a go.

24 - yes well. I do own all of 24 on DVD.. Season 1 and 2 were great, 3 was pretty good. 4 was okay. 5 - 7 were fucking ridiculous but i watched them anyways and 8 was FUCKING INCREDIBLE.

Gave the shield a go a long time ago, the first 2 episodes didn't grab me, but might be worth a second look. Cheers.

Orange Is The New Black is another quality Netflix original show. Comes recommended though it isn't perfect.

Other than that you might try:

- Hell On Wheels. Not as a grand a Western as Deadwood but it fills the hole left behind pretty well.
- Californication. Bloody good character drama with one of the most heart-felt father/daughter relationships ever.
- Agents of SHIELD. Can't say how good it is since it's premiering the 24th of September, but who knows.
- Hannibal. If only for the gorgeous cinematography.

Anime?

You could watch them pretty much for the rest of your life and still find stuff to watch.

But in case your one of the "its too Asian" or "Cartoons are for kids" types. I can suggest that you watch these...

Dr Who (sooo much to watch)
Hannibal
Supernatural

If you enjoyed The Wire you should look into the '90's NBC show that preceded it, Homicide: Life on the Street/. Both it and The Wire were based on David Simon's 1989 book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets but Homicide (the TV series) adheres much closer to the stories from that book. Now that I've actually sat down and watched all 7 seasons I'm inclined to say that it was the stronger show, if only because of what it managed to get away with on prime time TV. It's every bit as visceral and edgy as The Wire, with all the same social commentary, it just doesn't have nudity and as much vulgarity.

You should be able to pick up seasons 1 and 2 from somewhere like Barnes & Noble for $20 so I would highly recommend you do that and then see if you want to continue the series.

HANNIBAL - You would think the story about Hannibal Lecter on a TV-show would be trite and horrible, but Hannibal is anything but. It is arguably the most visually stunning show on television (Perhaps tied with Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones) and it has very talented actors in Hugh Dancy, Laurence Fishburne (Moorpheeus) and Mads Mikkelsen who play rich and interesting characters. Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal is a legend but Mads Mikkelsen turns his Hannibal into something just as dangerous and terrifying hiding in plain sight. To top it off it has really good plotting and tone. Watch the pilot in the highest possible resolution you can find.

THE SHIELD - I'm gonna echo what the Sexual Harassment Panda suggested. I've heard people say The Wire is like a great novel and that The Shield is like a great graphic novel. I think that is a really good analogy. Also, The Shield is one of those shows which has a superb ending which makes the whole thing look even better in retrospect.

JUSTIFIED - Do you like being entertained? If the answer is yes, than watch Justified.

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK - Another Netflix Orginal series. It's a dramedy, so if you do not like comedies (Seems so according to your list. If you do like comedies, you should also watch Community, New Girl and Parks and Recreation) you should probably shy away. It has a great cast with very interesting characters and a refreshingly unique, feminine setting.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - It's a high school drama about football in Texas. Sounds pretty terrible, doesn't it? I thought so, so did author of pitch-black violent fantasy Joe Abercrombie (http://www.joeabercrombie.com/2013/08/23/friday-night-lights/) and a lot of other people. But it is a show which is about so much more than that and is written and acted with such a beating heart you can't look away. Critics tend to rank this among the best of the best in television, up there with The Sopranos, The Wire and Breaking Bad. It is my personal favorite show and I am a 23 year old atheist Norwegian with diametrically opposed experiences, opinions and beliefs to a common Texan.

LOUIE - FX gave Louis C.K free reign to make the TV-show he wanted to make and the end result is so strange, beautiful, sad and funny you have to watch it.

Fringe (5 seasons, completed)
Hannibal (1 season, ongoing)
Homeland (2 seasons, ongoing)
Person of Interest (2 seasons, ongoing)

easy try Doctor Who.
I know it's a scary series to get into, but it's easier than you'd think. I started watching the 2005 series a while ago and since that was kind of a revival of the series everything is introduced quite nicely.
They show itself is very entertaining. Just because the setup of the series. The Doctor travelling through time and space let's the writer's basically go wild. You get episodes with horror elements, action bits, nudges to history (British history most of the time) and and and.
Really enjoyable to watch. A lot of fun.

Burn Notice all the way. The premise: A CIA agent is abruptly discharged of his job and left to fend for himself in Miami. He uses his secret agent skills to do odd jobs for a variety of colorful characters, while trying to find out why his life has been turned upside down. Unfortunately it's ending soon, but it's got quite the catalog as is (7 seasons!) so you'll be entertained for quite a while.

Also............
maybe try MLP?

I've recently finished Elementary, and it's brilliant. Can't wait for the next series, if there is one.
And... Supernatural. I cannot express how much Supernatural is amazing. It's become my favourate program in about 5 episodes, and that's saying something.

Actually forgot about Hannibal and Justified. Up to date with both of those, and eagerly awaiting new seasons of both.

Friday Night Lights sounds interesting, i may have to give that a crack.

Orange is the New Black also sounds interesting, and i seem to be holding all of the Netflix originals in very high regard so will give that a bash too.

Parks and Rec is fantastic yes and i'll have to check out the other comedies you mentioned.

Your list suggests that you have Netflix and yet have not watched Orange is the New Black, and for that you should be ashamed in yourself. Weeds was also really good for the first 2 seasons. I'm guessing that you didn't like Lost and that's why it isn't on your list. If you are one of the few people who has never seen the show, people wither love it or hate it. I fall deeply within the love it camp, even if the final season was kind of garbage. I also liked Revolution. It starts off really slow and I can't really give you a reason why I liked the show so much, all I can tell you is I did

Check out The Beast. It was a short lived show on HBO (14 episodes) starring Patrick Swayze as an undercover FBI agent. Very good. (R.I.P., Swayze.)

Louie. I mean.. it's Louie C.K. Do I even need to say anything?

Archer. Another great one. Done by the same guys who did Killface and Sealab. You should also watch Killface. Sealab is more niche appeal. Still excellent, though.

American Dad. Regardless of how you feel about Family Guy or The Cleveland Show, American Dad is somethin' else. Its humor is just so random and absurd at times.

Battlestar Galactica. (The remake with Edward James Olmos.) Really good. Really, really fucking good. The ending kinda fizzles out, but it's still fantastic.

24. Hard not to talk about action shows without mentioning this one. One of the best.

Arrested Development. One of the best comedies of all time. Period. Full stop. Go watch this NOW!

Also, you should check out Spy on Hulu. Really funny show. First season is better than the second, IMO.

If you're only 5 episodes into Supernatural....it gets waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.
It's one of the best shows of all time.
It gets a bit weird that it goes on past season 5 because the season 5 finale is the most "this seems like the final episode" thing that any show has ever orchestrated, but it somehow stays good despite some initial awkwardness in trying to figure out how to continue.
